View Full Version : New Expansion Runes
Hey all,
Just thought I'd throw up a note as to the new runes.
If everything worked as it did in beta, we got a lot of nice toys to play with. In particular, the Firk Botanist, Cecaelia, Shock Pomfret, the Titan, and Font Eruption, although no doubt people will use the other things.
Just thought I'd throw up some info quickly about these new runes...
The Botanist is great and runs with vaporise and magic vuln to be cheaper than a spitter. You can run him for 74 with 11 speed, which is nice, or, of course, save yourself 9 nora by running at 9.
Cecaelia is 71 for 10 speed and +6 hp. Her abilities are great: charm combos well with the pomfret and bastion of will is great - no more possession!
Shock Pomfret runs 63 nora for 10 speed and +12 hp. His ability is great with cecaelia and poison effects for hosing enemy damage. I like him and will run at least 1.
The Titan is powerful straight out of the box. A very fun unit indeed and you cant go too far wrong with upgrades.

The botanist is also an uncommon so it would be easier to get for the newer players. FS's titan is real good. But KF's titan is OP and FW's titan is a BEAST. I have to admit SL's titan isn't that good and SP has a 3D sprite in-game too.

Did the Marsh Gargantua used to have Surge: Plant?
Not that I recall, but the Gargantuan used to be semi-aquatic.

Botanist did have Surge: Plant at base originally. Switched with Vaporize.
Actually, looks like the Pomfret picked up flight randomly... so its 62 nora for the above build but with only 8 speed :(

I'm finding the titan and the Font Eruption fit smoothly into a pre-expansion style deck. Others aren't as smooth. Still quite undecided about keeping/losing font eruption. It's occasionally fantastic, but so situational it's kind of tricksy.

So I just bought a few packs and picked up an Ancestral Avenger (KF Titan)
Is it worth trading one of these for the Marsh Gargantua (FS Titan)? I am thinking value here people! Although I am not a sucker for profit - just fair trades.
KF for FS titan is probably a fine trade.
As far as Font Eruption goes - yeah, I'm debating it atm too... looks like it could be a nice non-water alternative to fish combos.
Going to do some more testing.

As far as Font Eruption goes - yeah, I'm debating it atm too... looks like it could be a nice non-water alternative to fish combos.
I mean, it's nice to have direct damage, and the relic weakening is a very sweet touch, but that being said, for it's cost, it pales compared to nearly any direct damage spell any other faction has. I'd take tornado. So often units are left somewhere I can't touch them.

I really love the font eruption! The ability to do 12 damage to every enemy rune in every deployment zone at once is really good. Easy way to take out annoying warbanners. Works in your zone and neutral zones as well. I am loving the psychic spell too, running a FS/KF psychic battlegroup that is really doing some damage

Heh, aye, I did. LK is worth more, no doubt, but I wanted it, and I wanted it now. :P
...and I'll never use that LK really anyway ;)

Haven't played around with most of the new stuff yet, but I've discovered the joy of a FS/KF deck for Campaigns.
2x Botanist with Surge:Plant
1x Dryad (will add another when I get one)
1x Tree Spider for Cocoon buffing
1x Forest Dragon for healing
Treefolk!
Germination Engine
2x Mandrakes, no aquatic/Semi upgrade
Grimlics Mirror
Recall
Recall
Basically pump out the plants and watch the Botanists and Dryads totally pwn. I have a nature's balance in to counter the Fire Vuln, though it is pinging off my Clones. Hasn't proved a problem yet, though.

KF's Titan is in no way whatsoever overpowered. View the thread about him on the KF boards if you really think so (Primarily read my long post). The FS titan is in the top 3 of the new expansion exos in my opinion. Plant regen was changed to work on water, and he has trail, bingo. Also, I read on another post that you can get Plant Regen 3, Phys Resist 3, and +6hp for 128 nora (effectively playable for a first round secondary reveal FF FS BG).
Henger, the buzz in the bazaar is that the ST titan is the best of the new titans. The shops reflect the same with their prices. Even though the ST titan is "worth" more than the FS titan, always remember, Need Before Greed.
Rooben, it'd be a shady maneuver, but if you could find someone to give you a FS titan for your KF titan, take it in the blink of an eye.

Remember that Almsgiver are a nice champ and can come in handy.. I run 2 of them. The swap ability are pretty good and I love the CD reduction she give when deployed/destroyed

Personally I'm really liking the Cecaelia and Botanist. Cecaelia can be a great tactical unit at times.
I may try out Talinos firk deck, it sounds like a lot of fun.
