Your favorite IS beater

So, who is your favorite IS beater? For the definition of "beater' for this thread I mean a mele unit but not one who often a BG is built around like Talgar or DK. You want them to be effective while they are on the board, but not demoralized when they die. Just to pick arbitrary Nora numbers, I am going to pick 74 nora max for common 9 spd builds and 84 for 11 spd builds.

The poll is limited to 8 so I will do my best to pick the ones I feel meet the criteria and are the most efficient but that is certainly up for debate. Also with each vote please post stating what you like about your selection.

battle rager is mine. He does 15 damage to most units and 2 attacks a turn hurts. I loveh im :p

I actually am voting for the Barb Commander. I love how he combines a strong offense of 13 damage with the nice defensive buff of Battlemaster. My Dwarven King always feels safer with him deployed as the ranged plinking doesn't hurt him as much, and if I can get him in close the Combo of Mele Spec and Battlemaster makes the DK tough to bring down.

And with 13 Damage and some occasional extra damage from Enrage the Commander is a force in his own right. By no means is he purely support.

Well, to me all these Guys have a niche' that they all fill for me

Renegade is Cheap, efficient power. usually a must for most Ironfist 9 speed Power Attack 2 Melee Spec 2 73 nora

Groble PileDriver is Survivablity GDP can almost run by himself 9 speed Block 3, Pulverize 3 Multi 1 86 nora.

Earthmover i kinda consider a utility champ with Resist and a limited Range attack as well as chasming. im big on knockback champs. 9 speed knockback 3 84 nora

but overall, i chose the Renegade

I like commander for the fact that its technically support champ now with enrage nerfed but it can still can deliver axe to the face quite cheaply.

I use a colossus in that way. Intimidating with his damage and unstoppable, but even at 11 speed less than 80 nora. Vuln-Magic is more or less a free discount with his massive defense, it's Vindrax syndrome where magic damage only does it's normal damage or +1-2.

Id say the Piledriver, the 27 base Defense makes him stupidly good if hes suppourted by an armourer, He can be built to take on pretty much anything provided its not resistant to physical damage, and with the right support can be unstopable.
Wears bracers very well too!

It's shaping up to be a close poll!

As is expected as a lot of our beaters are very playable and it's more about flavor or a specific role you want as opposed to overall power level that defines them.

I picked barb commander, because he ended up in nearly every deck I built. Battlemaster is always useful, and he can be a defensive buffer while still functioning as a combat unit. The atk portion is also helpful against high def units, melee spec, and SL.

I do have fun with some of the other beaters, but I feel they are largely interchangeable. Barb commander really changes the deck, and when he's on the field he brings more to the field than just another beater.

The poll is closed, but I finally got on the forums. I think the Barbarian Commander is my favorite mainly for battlemaster. I used to underestimate this ability, but it's awesome. I think the barb commander is an autoinclude in all IS decks.

As the Barbarian C took the first spot rightfully, i feel that mostly noobs voted for the Battlerager as i haven`t seen one used in competitive decks in DoW

I haven`t played one in months even though i have many many IS decks.. hmm wonder why. maybe the fact that he gets over 85 nora once he is decently upgraded but that doesn`t seem too high.... mmm i`ll give him another try today and let you know

Well Stone colossus is 2x2 doesnt work well with cata, and has dwarf bound...which isnt the bad unless you for some reason had your miners killed...But anyways i dont wanna get into a fight abotu Brager with a Member of my guild.

Yea it is just a matter of preferences, i was just giving Stoned Collosus as an random example , I don`t run one in my DoW deck anyway.
