(10/23/08) United we stand - 2vs2 Challenge!

[HawkFain]

**STORY** (idea from Archix)
War is taking place all over.... clans rally together to survive, fighting for their lives...choose your allies wisely or fate will befall you....

One player from team X (team A, C, E, or G) battles a player from an opposing team Y (team B, D, F, H). While the second player from team X (team A, C, E, or G) battles the other player from an opposing team Y (team B, D, F, H). If both players from the same team are victorious, the battle ends, and the winning team moves on. If only one player from either team is victorious, then the winner of team X (team A, C, E, or G) faces the winner of team Y (team B, D, F, H) for the final fight. It's best out of three style (need 2 wins from the team in order to advance).

There will be 8 guilds allowed to participate, 2 member from each guild.
Team A: Terezar and Draxxuus from the sons of battle
Team B: HotIron and Kyzrin from DOS
Team C: First Italian Gamers Alliance
Team D: Remni and DasMuffin from SZS
Team E: shimobe21 and tryo from Bunny Lord's
Team F: BleedForMe and Britannico from VAMP
Team G: KingAdam and Princeleaf from Messengers of Domination Doom
Team H: GEorGERMn and NafNaf from SA


**MATCH RULES**
All players must have a full faction build of either Protectorate or Wrath. No limit on levels. All matches will be played on a random map. You will have no longer than 1 hour 20 minutes to obtain a victory; if you do not the player who is losing, as judged by Hawk will have to surrender.

NOTE: Once you deck is submitted, you must play that build; you can upgrade the units, but you cannot exchange them.


**REGISTRATION RULES**
Thread will be unlocked on Tuesday 10/21 @ 5pm (PoxNora Standard Time/8PM EST).
You will need to post in this thread after it is unlocked and message HawkFain your build.

1 Nora Surge Expansion Pack for each member on the team, special award: United We Stand Challenge Award, as well as a unique award for their guild!
Participants of the Final Match will receive a custom wallpaper featuring runes from their sported faction.

I had to actively take time away from a life event I was in the middle of (watching a movie with my wife, which I consider rather important), in order to get on and post to make sure I got DOS into this. If you considered it important, you'd have made sure you or someone from your guild could be on at the time the thread was scheduled to unlock and be in it.

I had to make popcorn for my wife exactly the way she likes it and promise her a foot rub later tonight in order for her to not be upset at me for taking a time out from the movie.

By the looks of this maybe Hawk should consider running another one of these with larger brackets and/or making this type of event somewhat more consistent.

Agreed. The guild system really has made for a lot of fun with rivalries that already existed, as well as some that budded into full blossom after the introduction of guilds. I think any event that is made very public, as this one was, and pits guilds against each other, would get a lot of attention.

You apparently didn't read everything in the thread or you wouldn't have bothered to insinuate that I have no life, considering what I already publicly told everyone I gave up to be on to post. I'm having a hard time understanding some of your English, or more accurately, your structure of the language. I'm not sure if it's your first language, but I'll just try to respond as best I can, based on what I think you were trying to say.

I'm not going "sick" at you. I think you meant here to not have ill intentions towards you? If that's the case, please realize that I don't have anything but respect for you. I was merely addressing the fact that you made a claim that it was not fair to your guild, and others like yours, that you would have to be up at 3 AM in order to post when this thread unlocked. I was explaining why I didn't believe this to be a fair complaint, nothing more. I was not patronising you. What I stated, was not meant to be condescending at all.

To fully address your statement that "...some of us have lifes...," I'd like to point out that while I sympathize with you having to work and go to college at the same time, I am not someone with loads of free time either. I work 50+ hours every week, have a marriage to spend time on, and a daughter that I'm raising, in my honest opinion, rather well. I usually have to fight for what free time I get, and spend most of it on the forums, and playing poxnora. On top of the fact that I consider my own time very valuable, I manage and lead the DOS guild, with the help of several members, and am a player mod as well. That means that I volunteer a good portion of what time I do have to spend on pox, moderating the game lobbies and forums.

To be quite honest, if anyone was being patronising, I would consider it to be you, with the mere fact that you attempted to act all righteous (that's how it appeared to me anyway) towards me, as though I am simply telling you off, which was not the case at all. My goal in what I stated to you, was to help someone realize that it's not about fairness, but about the fact that the greens live and work in the United States. They work hard at what they do, and can't be expected to go out of their way to make everyone happy, when it's not something that is possible anyway.

Lastly:

I'm fully inclined to believe that you didn't really read much of the overall conversations occurring on the thread either, or you'd realize for yourself the utter fallacy in what you wrote.

Those are usually the effects of MMO's like WoW , Lineage II etc :D.But still it`s quite hard for us people that live in Europe to attend to these challenges .Even the games are at awfull hours.

Hawk, I think that's a great idea. Maybe one day you guys will get a European employee to work for you, like 10 hours a week for a little extra income. They could do all the stuff like this while you guys are sleeping.

I like the idea of a european timed tournament it would be great. I log in to pox at all hours but the time difference usually means I miss the events. I do think its a matter of commitment though and as long as I really wanted to be in an event I am sure I would make the time. But a European timed event might inspire me more to sign up.

Agreed. I'm actually hoping I'll be able to be present for tomorrow's matchups. I was on a conference call for work today. At least I didn't miss anything. Still, I'm sad they didn't show up, considering how many guilds didn't get in, that wanted to.

Heya Hawk, I'm very sorry to announce that I won't be able to make it tommorow at 2 pm, I had scheduled it around the given play times and somehow I missed that I could end up playing at 2 pm tommorow... I will do my best to pull strings and see what I can do but chances are very low so DevilsRath will substitute for me tommorow for the match vs arbenzio... in case he wins and me and George gets to the final then I will be ready for it at 4 pm (my match).

It's a rather simple concept. They simply care more about winning than they do the role-playing and maintaining of flavor within their guild. It's entirely up to them. I myself, will NEVER play full faction wrath in DoW, and even if I do 10/10s with wrath as half, it's a flavor BG that's designed around a specific theme, like ST/Wrath beast BG with Beast Tamers and Zealot: Beast.
