You know, its weird, but it is SO hard for me to imagine any of you as overweight. Like, darklord isn't an overweight man, hes obviously a yingyang rabbit with horns... I'm only half kidding- I view you guys as your profile pics, so its hard to imagine you as anything other then the personality I've put onto them.

(Also, yes, I realize this seems hypocritical, as I do not have a profile pic as of yet... lets just say I'm fine with being a male sex sign for now because I've had so much trouble with profile pics in the past that I'm too lazy to attempt to fix it :p)

Keep in mind, last I heard the entirety of the phsychology wing of science is in the proccess of having a possible complete overhaul right now. Apparently a single study revealed something regarding the human conciousness that every phsycologist since has built their practice on, and that study is now being heavily called into question.

In otherwords, unless you really need to (like, say, in my case where I need therapy), I'd avoid any phsychology advice until the field settles down.

(This information *is* only from a single video I saw however, so I could be wrong. but the video seemed convincing :p)

I've been in the health and fitness industry for almost ten years so i've picked up a thing or two by now. As far as fat loss goes the low carb or Paleo route seems to work for most people and the content of those diets are usually very good for you in their own right.

This is an excellent website for reliable information.

just type it into google and do a little research instead of blaming other people for your failure

What do you mean? If the theory was debunked, theres no reason to use it- its misinformation. Now, if you want to argue against the study that debunked it, sure, but assumedly newsbuff got his information from a source he trusts. Why would he be a horrid person for pointing out the debunking if he trusted it?

I would be inclined to agree with Astamir here. I've encountered the theory many times myself and although I'm no expert on it I have met and worked with people who would probably consider themselves as such and seem to very much think it's real. Due to this I'm reluctant to believe that it has been conclusively debunked just like that, maybe posting a link or abstract might help?

Also as Drake said, the world of psychology is apparently in state of chaos currently and it's a subject we've never exactly been all that clear on to begin with. The human mind is a very complicated thing.

Yes, It WAS verified by hundreds of other scientists. Several decades ago, when it was released. Well, guess what? a new study has been released that shows the phsychology studies at the time were actually flawed. Heres your source you couldn't go into google for and flew into a rage over. It's from a few months ago, this year- http://www.slate.com/articles/healt...n_psychology_may_have_just_been_debunked.html

    Everything Is Crumbling
An influential psychological theory, borne out in hundreds of experiments, may have just been debunked. How can so many scientists have been so wrong?

Theres a video on it too, but IDK where that is.

Wait, surely the whole theory wasn't based on that one cookie study?

No, there was another study with lemonade too, but that study was also a problem. Heres a link to another source-
    (and to you, @Astamir )

I have to admit, it is somewhat insane. I came up with a good explenation of phsychology at one point-
Phsychology is the middleground between theory and fact. It's more fact based than philosophy (and will often get more results), but is far less positive then science.. (and its results can rarely be predicted or confirmed permanently).

Just reading that article you can see where they were wrong and It shows what we've learned about test groups and how they can so easily produce invalid results. 19 people could never be enough to provide some kind of a benchmark for the global population, accurate testing needs to be done in the thousands at least. Obviously at that point you run into problems with control but from the sounds of it these recent tests were all performed in labs so we can probably assume they were under proper control.

I'm really surprised that not only did this barely evidenced theory become so well known but was also so easily disproven by accurate testing.

    Yeah, totally.
The absolutely insane thing is, which you'll see if you watch that video, is that apparently the majority of mental studies up till now have been based off of that study... so, now what?
I mean, while Astamir was completely out of line, I don't mark points off of him for utterly not believing newsbuff- this is essentially like saying to the mathematics field, "Hey guys! Guess what, 1+1 *doesn't* equal two, it equals the imaginary number version of -4356. Seems you have to do it all over again".

No what he was saying is the fact that something so fundamentally believed has been been disproven in such a significant way has caused everything that might have been tested under similar circumstances to also come into question.

So basically all the facts and statistics that make up the evidence we use to back up these theories might be completely inaccurate meaning that we don't actually know a thing about psychology at all.

So, how many sources do we have to give you then, uh? And did you even *watch* the video? It wasn't one study with a budget of a thousand dollars, it was quite litterally the biggest phsychology center in america making a study on it too.

Stop eating meat you as a human are not meant to consume meat save in times of famine. Your intestinal tract was designed for long term absorption of vitamins and minerals from fruits, vegetables, and grains. Calcium, protein, and other aminos can be obtained from eggs, protein powders, and healthy vegetables, fruits, and almonds. Consume only organic foods and drink 1 gallon of water/day. Weight loss is 90% diet 10% exercise. Eggs and dairy are ok be careful of seafood due to buildup of mercury and other toxins in polluted oceans. I recommend an extensive detox as well. Start with a 1-3 day juice fast consisting of one of your favorite juices and go for low sugar brands. Apple juice is good. Here is an educational video that I like because it effectively illustrates the differences between carnivore digestive tracts and humans.
