Wall of separation? Christianity is almost a state religion to the far right, yet the founding fathers had the exact opposite in mind.
well, and for a few centuries now, pretty much all non-catholic western countries (and i'd assume most catholic countries as well) have their highest authority in the government, not in religion. meaning the rules of the nation come before the rules of religion, whatever that religion may be.
America is a constitutional republic that employs democratic principles. But it has progressively morphed into a socialistic den of crony capitalists. Waiting to see which way Trump pushes the proverbial needle. More gvt power? Or more people power? Or some new and unforeseen path? Times be interesting either way. Freedom of speech is on the rise, thanks to Trump. More meanness, and more truth and lies are being spoken too. I prefer this to repression and/or silence. Others are very scared with all the dynamic changes. I empathize. And yet the future approacheth. Hoping that each of you has a great 2017, even though the ride appears bumpy.
I think that many 10s of 1000s of poor whites died to stop very rich people--whites, blacks, natives and others--from the perfectly legal and nearly timeless practice of slavery. It, tragically, is alive and well in 2016, albeit in a range of forms/styles. Slavery will forever be an immoral and disgustingly vile practice! Ability of humanity to harm or better the world remains deep and soaring all at the same time. Duality of mankind, and such.
I mean, it's funny, but... That's basically the only way to determine morality, which is why it's really hard (and usually bad) for the government and government related institutions to try and say what is "moral". They have to start somewhere, obviously (murder and theft are pretty basic), but it's not easy. That's a big reason for the government to not establish religion, or to interfere with it (as much as possible).
Now now, let's not get started on Evolution here. Besides, usually it isn't leaving religion, it's a change of it (at least in the states). I mean, you could by one of the technical definitions of religion call Evolution a religion/faith, in which case yeah, we do have religion being pushed in schools. Of course, I doubt that's what you meant by "bogus religion". Not that I don't consider Evolution to be bogus...
if you call evolution a religion you're an absolute religious nut with no grasp of reality because you're so far down the religious hole that everything that replaces or disproves your own religion must be another if you were asking if I was saying so, nope, see previous sentence
And then you've got those people that were apparently taught that Christianity = Anti-Science, and while it's certainly true that many Christians are pretty anti-science, it's not even sort of true for the majority, I'd wager. In fact, quite of few of the Christians that I know use science as a way to explain how God did/does everything.
Convenient. Everything that has been proven has been done by someone that can't be proven. All you have to do is belief /s
