Was watching Sword Art Online while checking out this thread which is funny. For clarification, you could argue anime includes all animation but you might look a bit foolish to some for doing so. The Japanese animation that most would limit the term "anime" to has a style as specific and discrete as Disney movies. It's about on par with calling Dilbert Manga. The character shown is Naruto Uzumaki, the title character in Naruto and the world's most annoying ninja. If you are curious to learn more about this or other related art forms, you might be a geek or just trying to appear trendy. My Little Pony is apparently making a thing with the teenage crowd and that just freaks me the Fout.
Uuuhm, what? I don't know what planet your anime comes from but that is NOT the main difference, as anime often takes it way out of the ballpark when it comes to unrealism. While it's true that Eastern animation has a way of making more or less "fluid" shows with no filler episode, and western TV shows in general works, as you said, with some main characters and a lot of filler episodes. It has nothing to do with animation, it's the style of western vs eastern TV shows in general. Though there is some shows that goes against this standard formula on both sides. The argument anime is for kids is very ignorant though. And comes from a western culture where most animation is made for kids. While in Japan for example they have a different animation culture, which produces animation for most age groups. While at the same time they produce less non animated TV shows compared to anime. It goes back to their culture getting rebooted after WW2, where most ppl wanted to see western stuff, and since you can animate characters to look however you want, and are not in need of western actors that speak japanese, (which hardly exist) the natural choice was to focus on animation and comics, while USA had Hollywood which produced "grown up" movies that got popular in the whole world and made animation stay as a "kids thing". This also explains why the animation style of a lot of anime is not really japanese looking but very Disney inspired. Where Pokemon and hello kitty is without a doubt made for kids, the new popular show "attack on titan" is not something I would put on in front of kids at all. Also, looking forward to see where the adventure of Agirgis! will go!
I never said the storyline was realistic but the character features are alot more realistic, look at cartoons (Famliy guy, simpsons, american dad, Looney tunes etc.) most of them do not have either noses, eyebrows or ears whereas in anime it's very rare to see a character missing one of those. Besides I shouldnt have said main reason, It is a reason which with a few others define an anime from a cartoon isntead of just basing it on where it was made.
Then again, look at anime hair and anime eyes. Heck, look at my avatar. Another reason why I'm not much into anime is the extremely low framerate it usually has. Naruto, for example. There are such as Attack on Titan which don't have this problem anymore though.
''Anime'' in Japan is short for ''animation'', where it stands for all kinds of cartoons. So cartoons in Japan are always called anime, no matter if they are from the west or east side of the world. When animes started becoming popular in the west, the term anime was used for them because the Japanese were calling them anime. Now most people think that anime = japanese cartoon, when it means just cartoon in Japanese. Also it's really moronic to generalize anime with ''kids shows''. Just like with every media out there; like movies, books or even games, you have content which is not made for the 12 year old.
Im not a fan of anime or greatly informed so correct me if im wrong here, but isnt the adult versions of anime called hentai making all anime shows for children and all hentai shows for adults?
Budget, many of these big shows didn't have the budget to make the big fights look very good, but when you take a look at the ones that had a decent budget/used it's budget well, it's very rare I can find any other drawn media to even come close. But it does indeed have both. For h0spy: No, hentai is the word for perverted, used on the internet to describe drawn porn. Also, the reason you have "realistic" anime is becuase it take sup the spot of "real life series and movies" of the west.
Was it really necessary to create a new thread to take a stab at agirgis? Imo it´s bad taste and does nothing to create a positive environment on the forum.
Why not do sometihng constructive elswhere instead of trolling and participating in making the forum a more hostile environment?
In a twisted turn of events I'm helping these forums out. And most people here are having a good time
Without this thread I would have never have known the difference between adult anime and hentai, plus 10 to burnpyro!
