Who should replace the United States, it's a simple question really.
"preferably no one/ everyone, failing that Europe."

I'm not sure what your saying here, is this you saying Europe should lead, or something else ?

I don't ever see things as black and white, if you explain it in a clear way i'll more than likely change my mind on things if it makes sense.

    1. Well I suggest you study the first french revolution to get a general idea of where your ideas of freedom and liberty come from.
    2. I disagree and I think ideologies based on meaningless progress for the sake of progress are idiotic at best, and hellish at worst.
    3. Because that's the message that I got from your posts.
    4. Europe has similar values yet countries our very different. They're obviously not the same, but you'd be very ignorant to not see where the roots come from.
    5. But it kinda was.. the modernization of a culture always implies getting rid of certain premodern traditional aspects of said culture -- that's what Europe and US has been doing since the turned to the modern paradigm for as long as they expanded their political and economic influence. Hence, they got Ruth Benedict to write the following piece so they better understand what they're dealing with. But their success was only relative since Japan -- much like Russia -- retained it's core traditional values, only changing the "decorations" (much like at the start of the Meiji era).
Oh and it's very haughty of you think that Japan would literally "rot" without US. The country has always been powerful, it has a rich cultural heritage, people are proud of their nation and of being Japanese and are very hardworking and dedicated when it comes to achieving their goals. without the US it would just take them a bit longer to get to where they're at today.

You're really ignorant super and you share the same stupid hero complex with your country. I thought you were better than that.

The French revolution is a really important starting point for understanding socialism, if you take the broadest definition as a critique of capitalisms failure to achieve the vallues and goals of the French revolution.
    literally LOL here.

You said preferably no one, everyone, which is a fairly passive aggressive answer. Then you said "failing to Europe", unless this is another young person slang thing, and your saying Europe should lead the way ?

As far as Japan rotting, was a figure of speech. Didn't mean they would literally rot, just meant that they were nuked and would have to start from the ground up, also Japan was still using swords until the late 1800s so they weren't too powerful back then. I've always applauded Japanese work ethic and culture, I believe if it was instilled in the States we'd have a much more successful country and become more united like were supposed to be.

I don't understand what you mean by hero complex ? We nuked Japan, and then built them back up, these are things that are pretty well known and it is why their society has come so far so quickly along with China. It's not me having a hero complex to state facts, is it ? Actually I disagree with pretty much every war my country has been in since world war 2, it's not our job to clean up the world, but I acknowledge what could happen if United States wasn't leading the way, and that is much scarier to me.

actually japan's surrender is still debatedly frequently, one school of thought has it that japan was willing to continue the war, but the bombs got them to stop to prevent further loss of life, the other school of thought was that they were already looking for an excuse to surrender as they were near unable to continue fighting battles and the bombs were simply over kill.

either way, the defeat of Germany was largely lead by the allies and the US was very late to that party, as for the occupation of japan it was held by the allies and lead by the US.

regardless the US was as important as any other member of the allies during the war(I won't get into who capitalized the most after the war) but if I had to pick an MVP it would of obviously been britain, if you think otherwise you are dumb.

what a british thing to say.
The talking themselves up thinking they are hot Bane Shift is not something Americans got out of nowhere. it is the surviving snootiness of the Brits.

I haven't hid the fact in any way that i'm not British, I've told you directly at least once in conversations like this what nation i'm from

I could easily argue that the MVP was Russia since it withheld the most amount of German troops and was forced to sacrifice most of its own but it's really much more nuanced than that and I'm pretty sure every country writes its own history in a way so that its significance in a particular big event is exaggerated.
Also, before the British Empire there was the Portugese, Spanish, French and the Dutch Empires, which were less barbaric and pretty powerful too you know.
Britain was pretty fu**ing brutal and had child labour in their industrial factories, and the culture at that time was so.. dull? I dunno. The victorian era just seems so out of place for britain, so counterintuitive to their national identity in my opinion, and in general beared not very interesting stuff in terms of its cultural heritage for the world, and what good is an empire that's bound to fall anyway if it doesn't build something that outlasts it?

just to be clear when I said "every map" that was hyperbole but it is the way most world maps operate
the Mercator projection also makes things closer to the poles bigger.

this alternative projection and orientation is sometimes found on touristy Australian places.

and as usual you immediately turn to insulting everyone instead of proper discussions, well at least you reminded me of a fun x-men character so something came out of it.

here to save you some time let me post your next reply for you.

"wha wha wha ***** moan, your a **** wha wha something topical from reddit." don't you get bored of this stuff? grow up

as usuall you get offended at everything.
not being memorable is not an insult. it would make you an excellent spy or assassin.
which would explain why your profile lacks a loction and why you wouldn't repeat where you were from instead opting to say you've told me 'wich nation I am from'

    I'm on to you.

    here's a lesson I think you need:
Life is too short to spend it being serious all the time, too short to tell others how to act, and too short to idolize a set of behaviours you experience as being 'grown up'.

I'm from Canada, I didn't post it because I wanted you to simply look through our old conversation and find it, and see us having this same conversation again, and you are correct the power would be great.

As for the rest it's not that i'm offended, to put it simply you don't offend me, your existence in the frame of my life is so small you cannot be perceived let alone insult me. Would you be insulted by a parrot calling you an ass? Regardless it makes it all the more disappointing when you bring up decent discussion points, then cannot discuss the points at all, just spout useless attacks in an attempt to dismiss the people making the point, like that somehow voids their comment when in fact all it does is distract and waste time.

I will do again as I did the last time, forget I ever posted this and about you, come back to check if pox is closed yet sometime over the next few days, see your reply and respond if I feel like it, which I usually do as I have much to gain conversing with someone such as yourself, it may help if I end up in a conversation with someone I actually need to converse with.

and yet you remembered a previous conversation where I have actually managed to forget.

I don't forget you while actively thinking about you, you are just irrelevant, I remember the crap I took yesterday doesn't mean it matters to me or I remember it till I try to remember it.

our conversations were interesting even if mostly pointless.

as I said and will likely say time and time again if I continue any correspondence with you, wanting to have a decent discussion is interesting and you tend to bring up interesting topics, or at least fit yourself into the middle of them. regardless pointing out your tired method of dismissing opinions based on gender, race, birth place, political opinion, etc is just at best boring, and you ruin interesting topics, or more accurately you end any discussion about them .
