Try to remember they have had to create this brand new client from the ground up, additionally making it work with PS4, vita and PC which is a big undertaking. The potential is there once kinks get ironed out. This new client also fixed a lot of bugs with the old client and in the future puts Pox in a much better position to be improved going forward!

Not saying it was not a lot of work, im saying, how was this suppose to be done a year ago? and /or what were they doing in the mean time?

These things are pretty hard to explain unless you are involved in the process. Long story short is that everything took longer than expected, basically, which is the story of most development processes.
