i have a similar problem to that guy, i used to play poxnora a couple years, with the same computer (back then it had windows vista, now it has windows 7) it would run smooth, no problems. but now its VERY slow.. like if i were playing a VERY heavy game.. the solution you gave the guy was to download the game from the download page... which i did.. i already reinstalled it and executed the game as admin and still the same terrible screen-lag.

anyone know what might be the problem? i dont think my pc cant take it.. poxnora is really basic compared to other games that i run with no problem

thanks for the help in advance

The standalone is the version you download from poxnora.com the other version is the one you download on the Steam digital distribution platform.

Does it run slowly all the time or is it where the game starts to slow down as you play. Also, how much ram do you have in your computer?

Well, it is possible you are running short on ram. Pox Nora on average takes up 500 MB of ram, and depending on your operating system that is at least 1GB used. If you have other processes running in the background like a web browser you could be over taxing your computer. First, Make sure all your drivers are up to date like your video card etc. Second, run a anti-malware program to clear out any unwanted malicious processes. Then disable all remaining background processes that are not necessary for your computer's operation. This might free up enough ram for you.

You can also use this to help assist in disabling anything that is unnecessary, and possibly speeding up your computers operations.

    Knowledge Base Guide (recommended): http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Text-only version of the above steps:

    - Hold the Windows Button (located between the left ctrl and alt button) and press the letter "R".
    - In the Run Window, type in "msconfig" and click "OK.
    - Click on the “Services” tab, and ensure that the “Hide all Microsoft services” box is properly checked.
    - Click on “Disable All”
    - Next, click on the "Startup" tab.
    - Click on “Disable All”
    - Click "Apply" and then "OK"
    - Restart your computer.
