Here's another deck I've jammed together. It's an updated take on the older FW or /ST rippers deck. With the severe cost drop to Fairy and more savings on Xbone and Fadewisp, the deck gets much better. The idea is to deploy ranged units with good cost-threat ratios, use BnB melee to tie down the front, and then roll through the opponent with the damage output. This deck functions in high contrast to something like Worms or Cheap Meat, which often rely on melee units and have lower-than-average damage output. Here, a couple taps of disparate DoTs (Xbone gets Scour) can kill a unit for a fraction of the usual AP cost. Because units here more likely die either far away or to DoT effects during the transition to the opponent's turn, Soul Collector gains increased utility and can handle cleanup. Dusk Creeper at 67 with Distract/SPD bumps units up one rank of range. This BG can take maximum advantage of that benefit. Boost effects get better the more affected -- they're a flat increase -- but that melee units gain much less from an extra point of RNG than a ranged unit; melee units often make up the bulk of horde armies designed to abuse boost effects. Here, though, cheap ranged units cover both bases, and a Fadewisp at 6 range makes for a much scarier proposition than one at 5. Unfortunately, the deck has an enormous problem with Tough: rank 3 tough stops half or more of a turn's expected output. To that end, Soulreave finds a good home here. Everything else stays well within the mold, just tinkered for the particular game-plan. If anyone wants a cheap, competitive deck, this would be my pick for FW. Martyr is the only non-core rune of Exotic rarity or higher. I'd say this is at least tier 1.5, but based on its feel in PvP, this might even be tier 1 like other good-stuff decks. At its heart, it's junk.
How to do you deal with UD? Vothsairs, Pincushions, Demon Shield, mobility to bypass your frontlines with Bloodgoyles/Bloodseeker champions/Deep Elf Priestess. Is the 1 Soulreave enough against multiple Arrow Eaters?
If they're running Blood, I wouldn't be worried about Pincushions, or at least Vothsair. In that case, the single 'reave can probably get the job done against any Demon Shields. Against a more dedicated anti-range deck, they won't have as much mobility as Blood, so letting them grind against the Broken Bones and Zombie Behemoths should at least soften them. From there, punch them to death. Wandering Zombie becomes MVP in that matchup. If UD becomes a bigger issue -- more prevalent in an anti-range form -- either a second Soulreaver or a Reaper's Blade could go in over one of the Mobis.
Why not stick a high warlock or two in there? they're not bad at all for 75ish. You could get some nice dot stacking then.
What about replacing one ranged champion with Serkan? You can run him at 90 nora with venegful and cripple, both abilities go well with the playstyle.
Perhaps it doesn't fit the wall approach of Broken Bones, but the cost of Bloodtracker right now makes him highly appealing. He's great for this type of deck for a couple reasons: 1. Scythe Whirl is great AoE and synchronizes well with Melee Specialist. It also gives him evasive, meaning they're forced to engage with melee, or crawl ahead trying to pick it off. 2. He applies Eviscerated on deploy and when he whirls. The latter is spammable dot damage. EDIT: I tend to play Chopping Blocks, but will give my own iteration a go. Trying out Bloodtracker. The Fadewisp is a definite MVP in this deck. Soultap can generate a lot of nora over a match if they play defensively.
I've always liked bloodtracker but felt like he would only fit in Vamps, probably one of my favorite sprites too. Getting Improve Range on him can be pretty helpful as it increase Scythe Whirl too.
I think he has serious potential outside of Vampires. Sure, he can't sustain himself back up quickly, but he's a huge damage threat if he's let loose for even a couple turns.
Dusk Creeper is one of a minority of worms that are both Worm and Undead, others include Blood Fiend and Carrion Colossus.
Gonna try this out. I have a secret fetish for DoTs. Was splitting SL snapteeth just so i could put akakios blade on snaptooth elders. Going to use a hoarfrost lich and a high warlock to see how they pan out. Probably going to use a very different spellset too.
Hoarfrost is also a good one. Forsaken Wastes has a lot of ply with its spell set, but in this case, both Soulreave and Mobilization do a lot of work, or potential work.
Yeah im keeping those two in for sure. Going 1x mobi though. It's mostly the other stuff. I played FW way back in the day so there's a certain comfort level for me with spells like steal life, ancient's prot, and despoil. I'm also one of the elusive tome of hate haters; I think that rune's awful outside dedicated attrition decks. I have generally weird opinions on FW because in my mind I play in a meta that existed 3 years ago. Also I'm going to try bone elementals in here because I cba to forge broken bones. Hurts my noraflow but w/e YOLO.
