Engaged after using Petrifying Gaze

I used Petrifying Gaze on Vindrax with Dunes Manticore.

I attempted to move around him, but I became engaged and could not move.

Is this WAI?

 

It is, and sadly it's very unintuitive. In most games, petrifying means total inactivity, but in pox the engaging mechanic triggers allways unless an effect forces it off.

 

What the fudge. That doesn't even make sense.

Probably the effect needs to be modified to give the Pacified condition (like Set Ablaze).

 

The problem with the Pacified condition would be that it can't be cleansed.

 

Like Set Ablaze... a special case where can be cleansed.
