Sentinel doesn't trigger on Aspect of Divinity. I've tried with both the friendly and enemy champion in range of the Aspect and only the enemy or friendly champion in range, but it doesn't trigger at all.
You have to have a basic attack. The intended way to use the sentinel upgrade is to make sure Aspect is equipped with an equip that grants a basic attack.
