We just keep receiving new bills for things they "forgot" to bill us for or hadn't gotten around to billing us for.
"We, uhhh, just found out two separate nurses, errrrr, congratulated you on the delivery. That ain't going to come cheap."
I think that's more the hospital than US healthcare. My daughter's birth was at one hospital, she was in the NICU of a second attached hospital. The total bill to our insurance was over $1,000,000.
We ended up paying $6,000 which was our family maximum out of pocket for the year. We still had all of the billing handled within 3 months. Don't get me wrong, I think there are many things wrong with US healthcare, just not your particular problem.
I have a daughter who is still in the incubator for a few months. But not US so there is that going for me.
