For the most part, buying runes is the only way to raise revenue to the game, but what about tournaments? For most free to play games that don't necessarily rely on powercreep, they use to sell tickets for tournaments, different HUDs, hats in general (cosmetic items). A way to sell campaigns could be that the only way to acquire a new rune is to play the full campaign. So to get the newest "X-expansion LE exotic new champion", you would have to purchase a campaign, play all the stages and in the end get the rune. This game has been building up for what now? Six or seven years, and the marketing approaches seem to be the same still. The game could use a little fresh air and taking a serious free to play stance.
