An adult anime fan VS a child anime fan

If the adult and child have a common interest (anime) that is okay to me as long the adult stays in the teacher/role model position.
Example: Bob can relate to his sons because stars wars was a large part of both their childhood. (Same universe/story line even.)

It is when the adult anime fan starts to see child fans as personal friends or equals, that line of though creates an argument for anime promoting pedophilia.
