At that point they really don't,.

If they cant grasp what to do to stay safe in 2 feet of snow, there is no way they can grasp the issues to consider who or what to vote for.

Good thing daddy government gave them a travel ban in some places or they would have died in droves, and daddy government needs those votes!

out of curiosity, do you think the travel ban was more for the average citizen (whose car was likely snowed in), or for someone whose boss was trying to get them to drive thru regardless

nor do i, i see the ban as largely a semi-political statement that can be brought up in case it's questioned whether whoeverthe**** cares about his people

your line of questioning sounds like you're pro-voting restrictions, which seems off based on your posting history

I thought it was so the frozen corpses of the f̶a̶t̶ fallen wouldn't have to be cleared from the bridges and tunnels. thus keeping them open for emergency response.

I am my own boss. (Just don't ask my wife). While I work for several specialist MDs, they cannot make me do anything. I am more responsible for me than anyone else on the planet. Making travel illegal is the way a competent adult treats a naughty 2 y/o. Sadly, millions of MuriKan adults prefer a nanny state. C'est la vie.

sure you are- that doesn't mean everyone else has the same sort of freedom or flexibility in their work lives, though. quitting and trying to find employment elsewhere would be risky for you, i imagine- it would be considerably more so for, at a guess, most of america. and not doing what the boss says is one way to get replaced.

also, just for a semblance of scale, my neighborhood actually didn't get hit that hard, compared to some. however, all the cars on the street were completely snowed over, around, in, what have you. the roads were rough too, especially if a plow hadn't been over. i don't think the travel ban was much more than redundant, except maybe it also made it easier to clear the big roads.

The amount of services unemployed folks get from many months to nearly 2 years softens the blow of losing a job.

I bet that WAY less than 1% of bosses insisted their employees drive long distances during a Yuge snowstorm. Bosses with such a mentality probably don't care about moronic laws. Besides, if a boss really does expect you to risk your life more than normal--cause driving is always dangerous--one is better off seeking new employment anyhow. In my experience, bosses are not bogeymen.

what competent adult lets a 2 year old travel?

why is DJ writing like a 2 year old right now?

if being unemployed is easy why isn't DJ doing it?

    where are the percentages!?

does DJ know his confidence in a subject does not accuratly reflect his knowledge of other subjects making some of his claims confidence tricks his mind is playing on himself?

    so many questions!

Winter Storm Jonas buried a large portion of the Northeast urban corridor with more than 2 feet of snow from the Washington, D.C. area to New York City Jan. 22 into early Jan. 24, 2016. Heavy snow also impacted parts of the South and Ohio Valley Jan. 22, and the storm brought snow to the Plains on Jan. 21.

Snowfall totals from the storm topped out at 42 inches in parts of West Virginia and at least 14 states in total received more than a foot of snow from the storm.

Winter Storm Jonas was the largest snowstorm on record for several locations in the East. You can find our full look back at the storm by going to the link below.

yeah most of what i'm hearing about the ban is that some people were clogging up the roads (mostly with dumb accidents etc) which made it harder for the movement of plowtrucks, sand/salt trucks, etc.

i dont think anyone really cares about the oscars being all white except a few minority actors not getting awards as a result. This country has a ton of real issues like flint michigan's water and the snow on the east coast.

I don't think issues are not real because they do not personally affect me or have no long lasting effects.

nor do I think we shouldn't talk about them because there are other issues on an entirely diffirent topic and scale.

idk, ive never watched the oscars before so i dont really have a problem with the award recipients being all white. It's the oscars, i wouldnt really expect anything different. Most of the people making the decisions on the oscars are white and watch films with mostly white actors.

the black community has been and still is dealing with alot of serious issues in this country. I couldn't care less about the stupid oscars.

why is the black community dealing with it and not the other communities? this seems counterintuitive.

i meant that minorities have alot of other stuff to deal with and the oscars being all white is almost completely irrelevant and not worth a fraction of the attention it has received.

You lost me with your last line. I don't see where I gave the impression I'm pro-voting restrictions.

"If people don't act in responsible manner in general in a blizzard what business do they have electing their own leaders (living a democracy or republic) or living in a society based on the principles of liberty?"

one way to read that is "restrict voting rights to the vaguely intelligent" (paraphrasing, obviously). not that i think that's what you're in favor of, just that it struck me as rather odd for that to be an interpretation

like over 90% of the oscar voters are white dude... and also many of the minorities that are allowed to participate in stuff like this could be described as "white washed" and probably are into the same stuff as the rest of the 90%+ white voters.

Often times white people will use these type of minorities in order to make whatever their involved in seem more diverse. Republicans do this alot in politics for example.(democrats as well to a lesser extent) The republicans have herman cain, marco rubio, ted cruz, sarah palin, and ben carson, yet their policies dont really favor women or minorities at all.(and these candidates dont share the views of most minorities or women in this country)
