I'm a fan of Gerben's lichen. I like how the troops take their bushes with them.

alternatively they'd be taking either wooden or plastic platforms or without the lichen and fake grass perhaps piles of gravel

and the battlegroup kursk ( and prolly battlegroup overlord and fall of reich and soon barbarossa and blitzkrieg) have it written that soldiers hardly ever see the enemy soldiers unless those are dead, wounded or prisoner. the game makes it easier to spot and target units that have moved or fired the previous turn, thus the infantry having some plants around them makes sense

It'l be less natural looking for a fight on a local tabletop store's city table I plan to do though.

 

So basically I'm trying to paint up enough infantry to make a german infantry division fight a russian tank division on a city map, sides will be of roughly equal points. i've cobbled together the following;

Ah, same here. I have Gundam, but I think Gerresen's collection is much better for toy photography, lots of options .

 

to be fair I get to skip out on a lot of details because they are a lot smaller
It's also why I feel comfortable not really adding any detail to the faces...
not going to pretend it's some sort of point about how history and war dehumanize the soldiers
