Any advice on themes that can be played that are not about build up and waiting? I just realized a lot of themes are just about buildup: Construct, fairires, magic just to mention a few I saw today. What to play if you want something that is giving quick battles. Win or lose, you keep pushing to win, not hold back to build up.
SPUD splits with fast moving hard hitting champs KFUD split with forest lerpers and cloaks of long knives. Can create a nice beast theme here. I play generally very aggressive BGs. Just ask @MaruXV Check out his laboratory guild thread for ideas.
Most themes as you listed them are by definition 'build-up'. You get rewarded for playing many runes from the same theme, and need to get these runes on the battlefield for the synergies to start paying off. Themed runes by design are not that great without other runes from the same theme. Probably want to look at 'themes' like the ones fentum mentioned.
In general, for fast hitting bgs, I’d go 3-4 cheap and efficient champs out fast. Often a double deploy turn one player 2. Claim own font and harass other. Switch to support or more expensive champ to suit position. Support should be equip or relic ideally with enduring effects rather than one off spell. Sac or heal up early guys to maintain pressure. Use POUNCE or other similar effects to close gaps. Pounce is a strong ability in all my ‘ fast hitting pressure’ bgs. Immunity to early opponent deploys is also often important.
Skywings, Tailwind, Garu, and Semiaquatics are all rushy decks that don't really need more than 5 champs on the board to win. Edit: Skeletons and zombies want lots of champs on the board but they can ramp up deceptively quickly and win before turn12.
Turns out garu can be very rush focused if you want them to be. Mainly helped by the amount of initiative / reinforcement they have, giving up to 12ap on deploy.
it occurs naturally, theyre still heavily based around rushing. They dont require any specific positioning, just deploying & the effect will naturally occur
