It takes 24 hours before the slot is available. A week before it disappears. You're better off waiting 4 hours to abandon. I learned that the hard way.

Use a hatchery, neglected dragon daycare!

 

If you post a lot the views alone will hatch them. Never used a hatchery, never lost an egg

 

If you have one avatar, you can breed it to get the other two.
