No one was intending to do... at least 1 of those things. Also we can't really expect the suggestions to be good. We're all sitting here theory-crafting runes! At best, the Dev's are inspired by one or two of the 30,000 suggestions to make actually good runes. You can't design something good without designing something bad four times first. Well I won't critique individual rune ideas as you are right that it's just theorycrafting. As for Nids, The Exile was a chapter in their ongoing story. He is no longer a main figure in their culture, except for splinter groups. They basically used him, unknowingly.
