I haven't tested this with a normal Land Mine Relic, but in this first screenshot, I set one to the northeast of the Ironfist Agent, the Apprentice Mage moved from the vegetation spot two tiles northeast, one northwest of her onto the highlighted tile, and then triggered the Land Mine, knocking her back through the Elven Archeress. In the second, the Wild Elf moved from the opposite side of the font, stepped around the Mine to get where he is standing, then triggered it, took damage, was Distracted, and was not knocked back.
