How can you know the original is dissapointing then?

I don't like that people use a word that means book in a dead language to designate a specific holy book of a certain religion.

like it's the only book there is.

have you read any of the literal biblical hermeneutic works? You'd definitely find it interesting. Bible loses a lot when being translated (much like any book really) and this is usually covered in such works. For example, one of Moses' commandments "thou shalt not kill" would be more accurate if instead of kill was "murder", since the hebrew retzach actually means murder outside a war or murdering someone unarmed which is basically a negative connotation of the world "kill". The Bible has loads of such linguistic intricacies.
