Thanks to the victory yesterday the stage is set for U Conn to go for win 100 in a row against South Carolina tomorrow night.
They must have been still celebrating their 100th victory. They only beat Tulane yesterday 63-60 and Tulane had a chance to tie with a 3 point shot. Anyway 101 and still counting. That close call might be what they needed to get their focus back before heading to the conference and NCAA tournaments. They can pass the Penn State women's volleyball team for second longest NCAA win streak by winning all games through the sweet 16 at the NCAA tourny. Miami men's tennis has the longest win streak so the UConn women will have to go well into next season to break that. On a related note it looks like the Kansas men are going to win or share the 13th Big12 regular season championship in a row. With their victory over Baylor yesterday they have a 3 game lead with 4 to go. I don't see Kansas losing those 4 games.
I'm not too big a Basketball fan but I gotta say I'm still impressed. And hoping to read @SPiEkY review that sauce.
Sun rose yesterday and UConn won again. In other women's college basketball news, Washington's Kelsey Plum broke the career scoring record while scoring 57 against Utah. That is special tome since I did get my degree at Washington.
The NCAA tourney starts up this week so we'll see how many more UConn can add to their 107 game record. They can get to 113 if they win out. Whoa!.. That wind you felt in Washington and California was Oregon State breathing a sigh of relief. No 15 seed had ever defeated a 2 seed in women's NCAA basketball tourney. Long Beach State (the 15 seed) had the ball for about the last 40 seconds or so and couldn't get a shot to go in. Oregon State won by 1 point.
Mississippi State upsets UConn in OT, heads to NCAA title game Morgan William hit a floater as the clock expired in overtime to help the Bulldogs end the Huskies’ 111-game win streak and advance to the NCAA national championship game to face South Carolina on Sunday.
