Anyone else got great memories of the worms games? Used to play it on playstation 1 way way back when. God damn funny to play against my brother and mess around. Nostalgia man
Worms and Hogs of War where my favourites from PS1, alongside Crash Team Racing and some other single players.
Incidentally, the manual for Scorched Earth is kind of neat to look at and remember how things used to be: https://www.scribd.com/doc/102209735/Scorched-Earth-Game-Document
Dang that is detailed. Its like the reverse of the Myst manual. They literally gave you a blank notebook with a note that said "Take lots of notes... Good luck..."
My brother and I used to play the crap out of this when we were younger, sadly i always felt the series peaked at Worms 2.
Worms Armageddon and World Party were great. It's funny that Worms 3D was pretty much the flop of the series.
It's funny that Worms 3D was pretty much the flop of the series.
If I remember correctly 3D versions were the flops of several series- one or two even went bankrupt with them. People thought of like 3D as the color television- not having it was a death sentence to sales. So, a lot of devs went into it too quick with to little resources, many times without realizing 3D at this point wasn't much of an improvement to their game designed for 2d (back when 3D was costly to do and not as nice looking). Essentially it was a consistent problem at the time.
On the original worms you could draw your own maps on paint. Whatever the new ones look like, they will always be poor imitations to me.
