The Voil Progenitor can be a pretty intimidating tank, with the physical and magic resist, plus the ability to slap Spell Resistance on him. Having a few Moga (like Cavernkeepers) around to heal him and for him to Devour can also let him absorb silly amounts of damage. He's pretty damned expensive though, so unless you want to take a lot of precautions to ensure his survival, you're better off using cheaper tanks (like Crowned Sauropods).

Mud elemental is a solid tanking unit for sure.

I like the Mud Elemental, but I'm definitely not a fan of running him with double Vulnerabilities. Yes, it does make him cheaper, but Fire Vuln in particular can make him a liability. There's already enough non-physical damage out there to get around his Resistance: Physical, but opting for the Fire Vuln I just think is unwise for a tank. SL and UD have tons of Fire damage, IS, KF, and SP all have a commonly run Fire damage champ (at least I think the Demolition Team is seeing a lot of play lately, haven't seen that many IS games recently).
Frost Vuln is easy to get away with though. You can run him with that and Phys Resist 3 for 70, or without Phys Resist 3 for 65. That's plenty cheap enough. |
