It was only AFTER the hit-and-run while building up for an alpha strike style of ST was destroyed that the faction went into a slump and all the loyal players left. I know 2, maybe 3 players that were around when I started playing - the rest left during a period of about 6 months when ST was nerfed again and again. This combined with a particularly lackluster expansion (Grimlic's Descent) to thoroughly alienate the original playerbase.

Edit: There were eventually buffs to make ST playable again, but this did not bring the players back. This is not a "my faction sucks" rant, but more of a historical commentary.

Whatever ST's playstyle is now (font contesting?), it's nothing even remotely like the faction I originally fell in love with, and I very much suspect the current ST community didn't come to the faction for the same reasons I did. It's like they replaced the faction with a new one sneakily or something.

And that's the reason why we're so small - we don't have the loyal "base" group that the other factions have, because none of them actually play Poxnora anymore (or moved to other, more stable factions). Pretty much everyone in ST is a relative newbie.

Another possible reason for the lack of popularity is that SP and ST don't really fit any classical interpretation of a fantasy realm.

I think it's more evidence of how many people play (or don't play) ST. Also what makes frost factions unique and fun in many of games isn't available as a gamestyle in pox nora so far. Example: slowing your enemies while also slowing killing them with frost, since they removed terrain control the theme disappeared for a more competitive high damage output ST.

ST used to play like this (even before Snow existed). The lack of the ability to do this in the modern Poxnora is my largest complaint with the entire game.
