I'm seriously gonna be pissed if they change Pox into MtG.. I've spent my share of money on this game, and that's seriously F'd up if they're even considering changing Pox..

Of course they'll be different, but they'll be pretty much the same. Magic has millions of followers (yeah, literally millions), so chances are that MtGT will replace Pox pretty soon: bigger player base, better mechanics and overall build (3d, PS3 release, Wizards of the Coast experience, much more money involved).

Just to give another example: Poxnora was originally the one having the PS3 release, now it'll be MtGT.

They might be just rumors, but make too much sense. SoE releasing an hybrid like Pox on a huge scale (Magic is a huge thing with millions of players and the game will have a PS3 release) it's reasonable to guess that some of the Pox team was, is or will be involved.

I know they would not be exactly the same, but you'll see in early 2010, they'll be direct competition.
I think you might be wrong with this. I mean Magic has been around for a long time way before Poxnora and yet some people choose Poxnora over it. Now that a slightly different magic is released, what difference does it make?

I've just played Magic a cuple of times but I got quite familliar whit the mecanics and think that it shares a lot with PoxNora. In fact PN is based in Magic, as everybody knows. It could turn into a more popular version of it and maybe put PN in danger.

WEll, I would never leave Poxnora, but it would be nice to see how the game is, I would want to try it out!

People choose poxnora because we liked the hybrid TCG-Strat game. And that's what MtG:T will be, but with better graphics (will be 3D), more support, a lot more money involved, Wizards of the Coast and SoE making it, PC and PS3 release and a potentially playerbase of millions. (More than the 1000 Pox has).

If there is a difference or not, I'll leave it to you to decide.

Im....probably going to switch to the MTG tactics. I mean I love poxnora, and I love the customization, but I hate this stupid elitism with warbanners, LE runes everywhere and Avatars. I am confident that MTG tactics will be just like the card game, all about skill. But of course I will wait and see what its like first

Mmm, really now? =P

Technically, money 'is' involved if your trying to become a serious player. It's very difficult to become a serious player in 'anything' without investing quite a bit into it. It's rare to not invest anything at all and be the best at it.

LOL well to tell you the truth I was a big MTG player before I even knew of poxnora. I loved the multiplayer, the drafting...even the pristmatic pauper singleton creature only mode! It was just more group based, mostly because we could have alot more then just 1 on 1. I have no problem paying money for amusement I love, but I don't like paying money specifically to upgrade an avatar or warbanner or whatever. I enjoy buying packs and hoping I found something rare and fun to play.

Funnily enough, in magic (this was a while ago) my favourite colors were black and blue. In pox, I play FW and FS the most (and consider them my faves).
Yeah, I'll be playing blue there!

You don't 'have' to upgrade to an Avatar or get a warbanner. Those are optional. There have been quite a few decks even recently which forgo running an Avatar or Warbanner. There are even FF BGs without the Heroes (Such as kthx's BG atm).

Also, I'm not really sure how the scenario you listed really applies to ranked. Your example applies more to casual type play where you can dictate a specific build when playing someone. Or a very limited play format. And currently Poxnora's limited format only extends to 30 rune Full faction/Split Faction BGs and a maximum of 2 same name runes (Barring rune specific restrictions).

In ranked your usually forced to take any advantage you can in order to be competitive, which is not limited to running/buying Avatars/Warbanners/Heroes.
