That's a solid start. I'd also include some champions with slam or knockback. It's extremely useful to have so you can force enemies to move through multiple squares of poison cloud. Additionally, make sure to not have poison attacks for ALL your creatures. Remember: that shrines are immune to it!
Might help to include one swamp gas relic. I have found it to be a very good to surprise opponents when they think their relics and shrine are safe from poison damage. Swamp gas relic allows you to convert your poison damage into fire damage for one round every use.

Using Leadrz bg as an example: Champion upgrades Boghopper spitter- leap1/poison3 Dreadwing-mobility/cloud2 glowing slider-transfer life2/heal self mindwarp frog- cone3/poison1 muck dragon- aura3/chocking aura poison elemental-cloud2/lay trap revolting fentek-chocking aura/lay trap salaman soldiers (replace salaman soldiers with darkmarsh defilers)-poison2/surge poisoned tidemaster-leap1/amp poison All done enjoy watching people rage quit when your hitting for 25 damage a pop with darkmarsh defilers and mushrooms.

nice bg. I like the poison globule. My problem with the globule is keeping it on an enemy champ long enough to proc the 30 poison damage.
It might be better to look at it as a sort of AP reduction effect? The damage can be quite nice of course (and effects like Stall, Distract, and the like can help get there, or with this specific BG, maybe Wandering and Poison Burst the guy out of range), but there can be some value in a quasi-Drudgery I'd think.
I think i've only ever made it actually explode on the enemy twice.. and it does 47 dmg i think or something like that if they have vuln poison. I usually put it on things that have alot of activated abilities, support runes. So they spend their AP getting rid of it instead of healing or whatever
I ran into a few champs like that yesterday Dwarven Engineer, Goblin spellkaiser, and a few others. I am gonna run globule again. It has been ages.
