Grim Dawn ~or~ Path of exile ?? I love my diablo stuff but was wondering about these 2 what has a deeper system, builds etc what is your take on it all???
I've only played Path of Exile, so I can't comment on which of the two have the deepest/best systems. I can say I did enjoy Path of Exile for the most part. However it seems like some builds are almost pointless to use against some bosses... which is kind of annoying when they work well for everything else and then suddenly your "hardcore" run is ended because you got caught off guard. I will say though, that probably the most complicated class/talent/whatever system for a Diablo-esque game is probably in Titan Quest. It's relatively old, not Free To Play, and you may or may not appreciate the Greek aesthetic, but it certainly had the most in-depth character customization of any of these types of games that I've played, for what that's worth.
Grim dawn is one hell of a game, I've never even heard of the other one. The people that made grim dawn also made titan quest which was a great rpg game.
Well my heart is always with diablo and there wouldn't poe or grim witout diablo, but I am playing poe now its ok and the vids on grim are notbad I will be checking it out more before I make a purchase.
Just checked my play time on Path of Exile. 990 hours. Run screaming before you are hooked. Poe is the spiritual successor to D2. Keep in mind that everything up to act 4 in cruel is the tutorial. Difficulty starts to ramp up from then on. Also play softcore until you figure out what is rippy.
Torchlight gets no respect. (Though certainly Path of Exile gets the overall aesthetic much, much closer to D2 than Torchlight could even dream.)
Yeah that's the feeling I am getting as I play it more and more it does bring back memories of the old d2 era and just has a great feel about it the skill system does seem deep aswell. I love d3 but poe does give off like a d2 2.0
True f2p. Microtransactions are for the most part cosmetics. Extra stash tabs are gated behind money but not necessary to experience the game. You are in for much sorrow .
Haven't played Path in a bit. Anyone active? I play a build that uses Blink/Mirror Arrow Traps and Totems. Pretty fun but I haven't been able to ascend with it but that's more because I play with the Steam Controller. HC only.
All else being equal, PoE because free. That said, been enjoying Grim Dawn lately (playing 2 player, so maybe we could get a bigger game/run through going too).
That's actually what turned me off from it, the game play was fun and very in depth but the visuals were rough.
Haven't played grim dawn recently, I loved titan quest which is who made grim dawn but I think the environment put me off of grim dawn. Zombies, skeletons and monsters of that sort over and over gets very repetitive and is in just about every game, fighting a giant minotaur and gorgons also seemed like a true rpg to me, maybe i'm old school. Titan quest had an incredible story, visuals, quest lines, unique monsters. I feel like grim dawn is a big step below what titan quest was, to this day I still play titan quest on my phone now and then.
Diablo 2 for me. I tried other D2 clones, and I always returned to D2. The other games just don't have the visual design and atmosphere of D2.
