I've always thought it a bit stupid that it is better in every way to a basic attack, which makes the basic attack largely irrelevant. It would be cool if it hit friendlies as well as enemies as you would at least have to think for a second about which attack to use (and would be more flavourful too). That said, it's a strong ability with a high Nora cost, I don't think there's a balance issue here.
oh sorry, I didn't realize you would be calling out my bad sentence forming. What I don't get is why it doesn't have a CD, most every other ability has a CD and this one doesn't. I just didn't know why because it seems strange.
i still think it breaks basic ability costing rules, and should at the very least be a +1 ap ability like all other non-basic attacks, it was created at the same time as glaive bounce which had the same 3 ap logic "because it was meant to be his basic attack", that changed for the same reason this should change. thats my only issue with it though really.
The problem with whirl is that it is AoE damage that rends and gives evasive for the same cost of a basic attack. It's nora cost doesn't matter, and the champions with it aren't that good anyway, so that's why it's been untouched for so long. But still he ability itself is a swiss knife, unlike most abilities in the game. I'm basically against it because it potentially shoeboxes champions that have abilities doing less, for an "unfair" cost(because it's not easy putting a cost on this kind of ability). On the ability, dealing damage means that you can't dodge, deflect, counterattack, blindfire, trigger whispers of the mind, or use any kind of counter to attack abilities. And then there's rend, making whirl an decent stealth counter. Lastly there's Evasive . Evasive . Evasive. I don't really have an answer on how to make it a balanced ability so it can be on more champions without breaking the game, but as I said, some people say it's balanced because it's on crappy champions. If you people like calling that balance, so be it.
Except it's not the same cost as a basic attack. Basic attacks cost 0 nora, scythe whirl costs 12 nora. Not saying its fine, but the claims that it has no cost is absurd.
Honestly, the only thing I'd consider doing is give it a CD of 2. I don't have a problem with what it does, but it completely invalidates the need for a Basic Attack (as mentioned by badgerale). Force players to think about when they use it rather than activating it the moment anything is in range. . . every round. . . and sometimes even when nothing is in range just for the Evasive 3.
