Any ideas for how DOG could improve "Hunter" upgrades?

    Any ideas?

One idea I had was, for example:

    Hunter: Ironfist Stronghold
When this unit would deal attack damage to a champion from the Ironfist Stronghold, that damage is increased by 50% (after DEF). When this unit takes attack damage from a Ironfist Stronghold champion, that damage is reduced by 30% (after DEF). This does not stack with other Hunter abilities. While there are no enemy champions in play that this unit can hunt, it gains Victorious.

    Victorious
    Grants a buff.

edit: People were taking the buff as the idea rather than the concept of it granting something when there's nothing to hunt. Should have left that bit blank to begin with I suppose or people get bogged down in details.

    This would be ridiculously strong.

This is insane, but actually a good example as to why Hunter abilities (at least against specific factions) should be removed entirely. They offer either no benefit or an insane amount of benefit basically just depending on draw-luck. Any attempt to improve them without reducing the base power of +50% outgoing dmg -30% incoming dmg results in something grossly OP.

Actually it's basically a very very weak version of Regal Presence. If it only gave out a bad version of Loyalty. Or are you referring to Eviscerated 3? Personally I considered granting them Loyalty at first, but it wouldn't work in splits. I actually thought this weaker version might not be considered enough.

Also, should have mentioned the price of Hunter would go up. Because it is costed low as it is often useless. It could gain a small cost if it was more useful generally.

Though to be honest, what it grants isn't as relevant as the concept of it granting something for not having a unit to hunt. Because the times the ability cannot be used to actually hunt is what makes it a bad choice. If you fill in that gap then you get an ability that has a use regardless, but can also be aimed at being useful when a certain enemy appears.

I always though that Hunter: X abilities should only grant a +50% bonus damage, not a single % of defense against them.

That would transform the Hunter abilities into the "inverse" to vulnerabilities.

Edited out the actual buff stats since people are taking them as the main suggestion.

Also, more ideas from other people too ^^

I like the idea of tune down Hunter abilities so they worth less nora, and don't stuck runes in the "luck" cloud.

But if they just tune them down then it doesn't solve the problem of them being useless 99% of the time. You may as well actually remove them at that point. But DOG obviously isn't going to remove them because everyone kept saying they wanted them removed and they instead put them on tons of upgrades.

So we should at least assume they are sticking around.

So if you removes Hunter, you will remove Vulnerabilities also? Is luck 80% of the time, same as hunter.

I think a reduction on nora cost and the removal of the 30% defence in the ability would be enough. If you don't face the hunted enemy, the loss of "nora" wouldn't be that hard, and if you face it, you are not a super champ with heaven's protection agaisn't all your enemy's BG.

Yeah, but it still costs you more than you'd want to spend if you can upgrade something else.

If there is an advantage for having nothing to hunt then it's always useful. Up the cost and let it be an ability that grants a decent benefit that you lose if you have to hunt something down.

You seem to dislike RNG mechanics, so why is making the ability generally useful less preferable to making it cheap and still obscure?

A boost to damage seems the most obvious and simple solution. At the end, you put that ability on the champion so it does more damage. When no hunted enemies are in the field, the upgrade acts as a costly bonus damage upgrade.

To me that sounds fine. So long as it is useful in some way all the time. It is just specialised for something.

My version was sort of the other way around. Like, not having anything to hunt rewarded you a better bonus. The enemy getting out a huntable unit removed that bonus, but you had a strong bonus against that particular unit to get it back (by hunting them down).

It still doesn't eliminate RNG from the ability, you get either one buff or the other depending on who you play against, while paying for both. It might make it less of a sandbag when you don't play against X, but then so would toning the ability down and giving it lower cost. Hunter: Faction is already just 3 nora.

You wouldn't be paying for both as you would only have one buff at once.

In terms of mentality, I would prefer having an ability that always does something rather than an ability that does nothing but is very cheap. Because no matter how cheap it gets, it's still too expensive for what it is doing. Nothing.

I really like the Idea of granting Buffs if there is nothing to hunt. :)
Maybe a simple +1def +5hp buff :) or combat awareness with a little nora cost increase
