Let me speak for my own faction when I say, the wastes are the LEAST discriminatory. We accept LITERALLY ANYBODY into our ranks. The whole being dead part is just a secondary process that not everyone is necessarily subject to, especially if they surrender willingly.

...But don't confuse that with surrendering on the battlefield. I'm saying if you were to surrender BEFORE we start sending our squad to battle you, we'd be more obliged to respect the desire to remain alive. Otherwise your ass is scorched, desecrated, and reanimated. And if you resist your orders or the process itself, you become a husk, a zombie, a truly walking corpse...
