Oh 2nd time i hear the old MUD term... i probably played MUD before you even know there was an internet... omg it really made me broke, i had to pay for internet by the minute, hehehe. It was so bad the ISP called me up and asked if there was any trouble, eh hrm no, and they actually canceled one of the bills... tried MUSH once and did run away and closed down the internet and hide myself outdoors away from the computer.

Roguelikes for the win. I must admit I haven't sunk my teeth into a good roguelike in a very long time, but was still a regular player of ADOM until as recently as 2006 or so. Was introduced to Rogue around '82-'83, progressed on to Nethack for many years before finally becoming a big fan of ADOM, (total badass, Biskup had an OS2 port for ADOM). Of course played many, many other roguelikes along the way. One of my favorites was Alphaman and was always sad it never saw further development.
