List of runes you must be aware of when playing Pox Nora.

    GabrielQ I need me some PIE!

    This thread is a idea of Jsat, that proposed to have a compilation of common, impactful runes that have instant effect on the game and you cannot prepare for unless you know is coming.

    Disclaimer: the description of some runes were modified in order to make things clearer for new players

    Forsaken Wastes (FW)

    Mobilization - 55 nora, all friendly champions recover 4 AP.

    Steal Life - 35 nora, target champion with 0 AP loses 15 HP and the closest friendly champion heals 15 HP. Avoid leaving 0 AP champions against FW

    Essence Drain - 50 nora, target champion loses half of its current HP. Loss of life ignores damage mitigation abilities

    Ancient's Protection - 35 nora, for 6 turns, the first opposing spell casted fails. When this effect triggers your shrine or avatar loses 15 HP. This effect is hidden until triggered. Ussually seen along with tome of hate

    Domination - 50 nora, target non-Possessed enemy champion recovers 3 AP and is Possessed by you until the end of turn. Be careful of cliffs, if two champions you own are adjacent when domination is cast on one of them, they'll become engaged and the dominated champions won't be able to move.

    Wake The Dead - Hidden spell, it creates 3 real skeletons near any of your champions that pick a nora globe, it can be used twie to spawn 6 skeletons. These skeletons can contest fonts, deploy relics and they have spell presence.
    Soulreave, Reaper's Blade - These are sources of spot loss of life soulreave grants all champions attack: loss of life, and reaper's blade gives a single champion soulstrike, that removes a quarter of the life on every successful attack.

    Xulos, Undead Sage (on deploy effect) - Dark Favor 3: When this unit is deployed, enemy champions lose 9 HP.

    Underdepths (UD)

    Sacrifice - 30 nora, sacrifice target real champion you own. You regain Nora equal to 85% of its Nora Cost. Don't leave almost dead champions agains UD

    Retribution - 45 nora, sacrifice target real champion you own. The closest champion with owner different from that of the destroyed champion takes Magical damage equal to half the destroyed units Nora Cost. Don't leave almost dead champions agains UD

    Avenging flame - 35 nora, when target friendly champion is destroyed, it's nearest opposing champion becomes Consumed By Fire (This champion is Shielded, Immobile and Pacified. At the beginning of your turn, this champion takes 10 Fire Damage) for 2 turns.

    Maddening echoes/summon borghas/fireblast - Really high area of effect 2 damage output. Don't let your champions in AoE2 against UD

    Fiery Ambush - 40 nora, At the beginning of next turn, all spaces of target font deployment zone become a Fire Wall (Whenever an opposing champion enters this space, it takes 12 Fire damage and becomes Charred 2) for 1 turn. It doesn't affect caster's champions.
    Purefire - 40 nora, target champion is Cleansed, Dispelled and takes 6 Fire damage.

    Demon Shield - 25 nora, equip only a Demon. This champion gains Arrow Eater (When this unit would take damage from a ranged attack, that damage is prevented, and this champion gets a bonus to DMG equal to 25% of the damage that would have been dealt).

    Mandate of sheoul/ blade of the snake - Blade of the snake gives 7 extra damage to melee champions, and mandate heals and buff the owner when it kill a champion

    Price of victory - 40 nora, your Shrine or Avatar loses 50% of its current hp (rounded up) and all of your champions gain 5 hp and 2 ap global AP gen. Expect it when there are scorched dwarves deployed.

    Fading recollection - 55 nora, target champion permanently loses all base and upgraded abilities that are not basic attacks. This cannot be cleansed, redeployment effects (blink, vertical push and others), however, gives the champion his abilities back.

    Sundered Lands (SL)

    Quicken - 35 nora, target champion is Quickened (The next time this champion makes a basic attack it makes a second basic attack against the same target for 0 AP. This does not stack).

    Quickening - 60 nora, friendly champions are Quickened, after this spell has been cast, no other spells can be cast this turn.

    Draconic benediction - 65 nora, for 1 turn, all friendly units gain Benediction (This champion has +3 DMG, +2 SPD, and +1 DEF. This effect does not stack), recover 2 AP and are Flying. After this spell has been cast, no other spells can be cast this turn.

    Transfusion - 30 nora, target champion loses all AP and the nearest friendly champion gains that much AP. Initial target can be friend or foe

    Mimic - 45 nora, target friendly champion gains all of the base and upgraded abilities of the closest non-Avatar/Boss/Elite champion within 1 space owned by an opposing player. Basic attacks and abilities that change a champion's form are not gained.

    Cancel magic - 40 nora, for 6 turns, the next spell your opponent casts costing equal or more nora than this spell fails (Nora is still used, and the spell still cools down). This effect is hidden until triggered.

    Purge - 50 nora, area Effect 3: All champions in the affected area are Cleansed (All negative conditions are removed) and Dispelled (All positive conditions are removed).

    Snogvie the antbear (on deploy effect) - Sonic greeting: When this champion comes into play, all enemy champions take 5 sonic damage and become Distracted 2 (This unit may only activate basic attacks). This damage ignores defense.

    Shattered Peaks (SP)

    Alacrity - 45 nora, area Effect 3: Friendly champions gain 4 AP and lose 8 health.

    Vicious harpoon - 40 nora, equipped champions gains pull (Target enemy champion within 5 spaces is relocated 3 spaces closer to an unoccupied non-damaging, non-chasm space.)

    Avalanche - An AoE that grounds and knockbacks 1 space, be careful near chasms and in presence of units that can lay traps
    Slaver's whip - Spot possesion, can be used to cliff champions and to conquer isolated fonts in 1vs1 battles.
    Whispers of the mind - 30 nora, the next time target champion makes a basic attack, that attack misses and the champion loses all AP and becomes Distracted 4. This effect is hidden until triggered.

    Vertical Push - 55 nora, Target champion is removed from play. After 3 turns, this champion is returned to play in a random unoccupied location 1-4 squares from the location where it was launched, and takes 20 Physical damage. This spell cannot target champions with Flying or Earthbound. Any buff or equips on the target champions are removed.

    Rock Trap - 35 nora, this relic has Shadowspawn (This unit comes into play Stealthed). When an enemy champion moves within 2 spaces of the trap, the trap is destroyed and all enemy champions within range take 4 Physical damage, are knocked back 2 spaces, and become Stunned 1. This damage ignores DEF.

    K'Thir Forest (KF)

    Reclaim - 50 nora, area Effect 3: This area becomes Vegetation. At the end of your turns, all enemy champions within the area are Pacified (This champion cannot attack or use abilities to attack, and cannot engage other champions. This cannot be cleansed) for its next turn, and the area of this spell's effect decreases by 1.

    Thorn collection - 50 nora, area Effect 3: All champions within the affected area take 10 physical damage. Shrines and relics take half damage. The owner of this spell gains nora equal to half the damage dealt by this spell. clumped champions can lead to a AoE spam, enabled by this spell's refund.

    Horn of order - 50 nora, equipped champion gains Drive (Target champion within 4 spaces loses 2 HP (HP loss cannot be prevented) and gains Driven (This champion gets +2 DMG and +1 SPD) and recovers 1 AP. This ability can not be used on a champion who already has this effect.) and Invigorate 2 (Target champion within 2 spaces gains 4 AP.)

    Carnivorous vines - 25 nora, target champion becomes Rooted 3 (This champion may not move) and takes 4 Physical damage. Can be used in conjuction with knockback effects to do big amounts of damage.

    Shimmering flower - 25 nora, equipped champion is Distracted (This unit may only activate basic attacks).

    Withering fern - 25 nora, at the beginning of its turn, this champion loses 3 HP and gets -1 DEF permanently. Can be used to counter perseverance

    Bullseye - 35 nora, for 1 turn, each ranged friendly champion gains Skirmisher (This unit can only attack champions and transfigured Avatars) does 50% more damage on its next basic attack.

    Protection - 45 nora, the next time target champion would be damaged, it gains the Eater ability matching that damage type for 6 turns (this occurs before damage resolves). This effect is hidden until triggered.

    Escape magic - 40 nora, for 6 turns, when target owned champion would be destroyed, that champion becomes stealthed and is relocated to the closest friendly deployment zone and has its HP set to 15. This effect is hidden.

    Vortex - 50 nora, target champion loses all AP and is moved to the furthest location in its owner's Shrine deployment zone. If there is no valid location for the unit, it is returned to the Rune Dock, its cooldown is set to 0 and its Nora Cost is refunded. (This spell cannot target Planar Bound units.)

    Forglar Swamp (FS)

    Drown - 75 nora, destroy target small champion occupying Water. Plants, Undead, Elementals, Flying units, and Amphibious units cannot be Drowned.

    Reverberating Blast - 55 nora, target champion takes 10 Sonic damage. If target champion takes damage, that champion is Stunned 2 (This Champion has -2 DEF, cannot attack, move, activate abilities, or engage other Champions) and the next closest champion within 4 squares takes 5 Sonic damage. If the closest champion takes damage, that champion is Stunned 2.

    Backfire (Backfire boon) - 45 (60) nora, next spell your opponent cast fizzles (and all you champions heal 15 HP)

    Pygmy Hippo Stampede - 55 nora, area Effect 3: 3 Pygmy Hippos with Crazed Charger (When this champion activates the Charge ability, it's CD is set to 0), 5 HP and no Huntmaster Bound are summoned randomly in the affected area. They come into play with 5 AP. Pygmy hippos have 9 base damage, charge and gore.

    Tortun Land Cannon - 50 nora, this unit has Cannon Shot (Target unit at Range 3-6 takes 15 Physical damage. This is not an attack. This ability is removed after it has been used 4 times). This non-attack bypasses evasive, elusive and arrow eater.

    Horn of order - 50 nora, equipped champion gains Drive (Target champion within 4 spaces loses 2 HP (HP loss cannot be prevented) and gains Driven (This champion gets +2 DMG and +1 SPD) and recovers 1 AP. This ability can not be used on a champion who already has this effect.) and Invigorate 2 (Target champion within 2 spaces gains 4 AP.)

    Poison Trap - 35 nora, this relic has Shadowspawn (This unit comes into play Stealthed). When an enemy champion moves within 2 spaces of the trap, all enemy champions within 2 spaces become Poisoned 3 and lose all AP.

    Undertow - 40 nora, target an unoccupied Water space. The nearest normal-sized enemy champion within 4 spaces is relocated there.
    Slipwater - 40 nora, for 1 turn, whenever an Aquatic or Semi-aquatic unit enters a water space, it gains 1 AP. This effect can trigger up to 5 times per champion.

    Faction's only instant cleanse option is mirefolk exclusive: Mirefolk revival, global on deploy effect.

    Ironfist Stronghold (IS)

    Unobstructed view - 35 nora, for 4 turns, all enemy Stealthed champions and relics lose the Stealthed condition.

    Righteous deflection - 35 nora, for the next 6 turns, whenever target champion would take damage from a ranged attack, that damage is dealt to the attacking unit instead. This effect is hidden until triggered.

    Impervious - 30 nora, target champion is Impervious for 2 turns (damage dealt to it is prevented) and gains Skirmisher for 3 turns.

    Refute - 40 nora, the next opposing rune played fails and is set to a cooldown of 10. Other copies of the same rune in your opponent's rune dock are revealed and also set to a cooldown of 10. Your opponent is refunded 50% of the failed rune's nora cost.

    Hammer strike/ sapping beam - Great champion disable options.

    Might of ironfist - 35 nora, target champion loses 10 HP, has +5 DMG and gains a rank of Pummel for 1 turn. The HP loss can be used offensively.

    Soul reaver/vial of holy water - only general spot cleanse. (already equipped units cannot be cleansed, unless paladins, shamans or priest and using consecrate the earth).

    Tales of valor - 25 nora, this champion has courage (+2 DMG and +1 DEF for every 8 HP it has less than its maximum health)

    Blink - 55 nora, target champion is removed from play. At the end of 2 turns, the champion is returned to play in the location where it was removed from play. If that location is occupied, the redeployment effect is delayed for 1 turn (this process repeats until the unit is successfully redeployed). Can be coupled with a relic to delay the champion untill it's destroyed.

    Macadamize - 25 nora, area Effect 5: For 6 turns, terrain in the affected area becomes Rock. All friendly champions in the affected area gain Domain: Rock (This unit gains +2 DMG, +1 DEF, and Mobility (This champion may disengage the turn it becomes Engaged and disengages for 0 AP) while occupying Rock.)

    Strip Armor - 35 nora, until end of turn, all champions gain Vulnerability - Physical.

    Earthgod Sigil - 25 nora, this champion gains Earthbound, Lavawalker, and Lumbering (This champion's AP cost for each movement is increased by 1.). When this champion moves a space through normal movement, the spaces it occupied become Lava (Impeding 1, 8 Fire damage on entry and when occupied) for the next 6 turns.

    Several Divine Favor 3 champions - global 12 heal on deploy

    Savage Tundra (ST)

    Gale force - 50 nora, area Effect 2: Champions within the affected area take 6 Frost damage and are knocked back 3 spaces. This spell can deal big amounts of damge against lined up or clumped champions and can be used to cliff.

    Snow Blind - 30 nora, the next time an opposing spell that targets a single unit is cast, it is instead cast on the closest valid target (from the original). If there is no valid target to redirect to, the spell fizzles. This effect is hidden until triggered. If you guess this spell was cast, you can risk to cast the spells on another champions so it gets redirected to the one you wanted.
    Ferren Hideout - 45 nora, this relic has Relocate: Ally (Target friendly champion within 7 spaces is relocated to the nearest available space adjacent to this unit. (This ability cannot target Planar Bound or Immobile units)) and Relocate Self (This unit is relocated to target space within 5 spaces).

    Keeneye crown - 35 nora, equipped champion gains +2 to MAX RNG. If equipped on Juya White-Eyes, she also gains Precision.

    Blizzard cloack - 30 nora, For 8 turns, the next 3 attacks against target champion misses. If the target champion occupies a snow or ice space, this effect is hidden until triggered.
    Swap - 50 nora, Target opposing champion swaps location with the nearest valid friendly champion within 8 spaces of the same size.

    Healing Hand - 45 nora, for 6 turns, the next time this unit's HP would fall to 5 or less, this unit is healed to 50% of its max HP. This effect is hidden until triggered.

    Frigid Barrier - 40 nora, opposing units within target font deployment zone takes 14 Frost Damage and becomes Frozen for 2 turns, and that deployment zone become Ice and unoccupied spaces adjacent to the deployment zone becomes Crystal (This space is inaccessible) for 2 turns. This spells may impede your champions of contesting a font.

    Containment unit - 40 nora, this relic has Arctic, Ice Front and Containment Unit (At the end of its turn, adjacent friendly champions are Crystallized). Crystallized units are impervious to damage.

    Coordination tower - 30 nora, this relic has Arctic and Battlemaster 1 ( Friendly champions within 2 spaces get +2 DMG and +1 DEF. This effect does not stack). All friendly champions within 2 spaces of this relic gain Encouraged (When a friendly champion attacks, this champion gains +1 DMG for 1 turn).
    Crystal Phoenix (on deploy effect) - 55 nora, Divine favor 3: friendly champions heal 12 HP.

    Well it should say "instant cleanse" instead right ?

    I think that Soulreave should be added to the FW spell list. It counters too many things to not be known about at first.

    All friendly champions with a basic attack have it replaced with Attack - Loss of Life (This unit makes a Loss of Life attack at its Range. This is a basic attack. Loss of Life is not considered damage) for 3 turns.

    Counters immunities, eaters, impervious, arrow eater, resistance, deflect, absorb, oblivion shield, and incorporeal. I'm probably missing some things but it's a powerful spell.

    ST needs Swap, Flash Freeze, Tundra Discipline (Razor Ice similar)
    FW needs Soulreave, Doom, Soul Corruption
    UD needs Summon Borghas, Arise (against stitches), Fading Recollection, Fiery Ambush, Masochism
    SL needs Enslave, Minefield, Ferocity of Kain Taris
    SP needs Electrostaticficationised, Zealotry
    KF needs Lash Down, Living Vine
    IS needs Divine Reprisal, Unbending Force
    FS needs Bog Trap, Backfire

    Would be a waste of time to include on the list. It´s a shoebox spell and the domination effect is cleanseable.

    Sacrificial Daggert would be usefull on the list so would Reapers Blade
    DamageAuras could be described as well so people wont be surpriced when their 1 hp percervance champion gets countered

    The list being short is important, things have to have a immediate, incounterable impact to matter and be popular at the same time. If someone cast zealotry, you can read about it in the combat log and not being any worst because of it. If someone cast doom, you have plenty of time to react and it's not like you could do something to avoid it. Sacrificial dagger I won't include because heal is widespread now, and sacrificial dagger doesn't help to kill the champion. I consider everything you propose but understand that the list has to be as short as possible.

    I'm assuming this list is useful only among the new players and lower rank. Veteran players such as exotic or limited rank won't even considered looking up this list (since most probably have all that in the memories hahaha). New start new players new guides always a good thing.

    Last I know blink did cleanse this .

    I feel you should add Masochism to UD list I have seen lots of pep get real mad and more then 1 game lost due to it . Double tap players in the most part have a problem with this spell.

    I added the redeployment effect interaction to fading recollection.
    I didn't include masochism because it's not a hidden effect, it appears in the combat log and gives people time to react.

    How about that FW spell that spawns 6 skeles if u pick up nora globes.. thats pretty big impact lol

    FS font erupt is good add... might wanna tell them to try and avoid piling in font spaces :)
