    It didn't.

They have had that chance for a while. This is Decondor quitting on them, not the other way around.

First of all this isn't the real Decondor. Second of all you cannot deny that PoxBox's existance >was< needed for the game to stay afloat for as long as it did as it's essentially eased the barrier of entry under SOE's rule and later on during DOG's while Owls were working on the Rune Forge. The moment Rune Forge got released PoxBox has just turned into a LIM depository. Inaction on their end doesn't mean approval.

Why is it so difficult for people to understand that player stores have been illegal since the beginning of Pox by the very virtue of Terms of Service you sign when you register to the game?

    That's irrelevant.

I'm not denying PoxBox's role as a facilitator at any given point, I am however drawing attention at the overall stance the people in charge have taken towards it. Where you see necessity I see wasted opportunity, and I'm sure you can guess where.

Yes. And that's fine. After all that's how Pox's model has been all along, this is what they wanted, not anyone else.

    Inaction is still inaction.

It's not hard to understand, everyone knows this. But it's practically a void argument at this point. I shouldn't have to explain you why and it should hold no weight whatsoever as to what someone does or doesn't do with their virtual "assets."

You reap what you sow, Eth. I see where you're coming from, but the fault does not lie with anyone but the people you're trying to help.

All I care about is the game's well-being and since PoxBox has been an influential part of it, I saw the distribution of all (save for LIMs if he so desires) runes he currently has to the tournament pool as the last act of service. It's when people accuse me of shrinking the community or being egotistical or suggesting that Olaf should get rewarded for something he was already getting money from that I get annoyed.

I'm not saying he should be rewarded, but he doesn't have to make up for anything either. Everything he did he was allowed to do and the assumption that providing a last service to the community is the right one is also wrong. I see your good intentions but again, it's not him or you who should be taking action.

Hopefully the community organized tournament is a step in the right direction where greens partake in what goes on, providing rewards which are enticing enough in their own accord.

Oh and well, there's barely any point in distributing anything than the limited runes, honestly. Then again these things are the type which you should never run out of.

    - This is the fault in your logic, your suggestions don't directly help pox nora make money which is their goal. It actually does the opposite. Not that it's relevant anymore but how does giving away runes even "sparingly" for a free tournament reward help pox make money? If your saying in a roundabout way to help morale and the game population then thats a bit of a stretch to entice them to "buy" runes that they can now win?

    - More analogies yay!! If I owned a "nike" wholesale store that I ran down the street from the Nike headquarters and shut down my business..... Am I helping the headquarters if I give all my sneakers to a "nice guy" and he gives them away for free outside Nike headquarters for winning a basketball tournament that is free to enter and no revenue goes to Nike? Did I just help the betterment of Nike? Am I ever going to walk past the nice guy.... to go buy the sneakers at full price .... ever again?

    - So just be honest , cuz I dont even like poxbox that much... but your helping the playerbase have fun so continue. But lets not pretend it would help the revenue of Pox to flood the market with out of circulation runes in an already glut of a market... even if you release them sparingly. If the population ever went up we would have more to discuss like... the closing of poxbox increasing player to player trading again which was the best part of the game release days etc.

    - If anything DoG would encourage him to disappear with them altogether... other companies in a more lucrative business situation would actually pay decondor to not disclose or release any of the internet property to take it out of circulation tbh

    - Yeah no Bane Shift... but you hoopjacks both get the point. That's where they would be going? I'm sure Tiny is all set.... is this the trickle down theory your "helping" the community with? maybe if the best players in pox win all of decondor's lims.... they will just give away their legs to their buddies and down down the line... the poor homeless pox players will get the scrap commons :D... buncha saints

Except that tournament creators decide how the rewards are distributed, e.g. the Hypnofrog was given out to the most creative BG. It's up to @MaruXV to decide who gets what.

ok again,, I think alot of u guys are over thinking this,,, from the economic standpoint all the way to socialist government theories. (ok im stretching a bit).
also. im about to have company so theres no way I can enjoy my evening and look at these forums.:)

so if people where using those cards,, making bg ,, tourneys, , yea a free giveaway! dog would lose money? u think people not having those cards is compelling people to go buy them? heh

your worried about cards that were already bought and paid for? however thoses cards where gained,, dog got there money,, thats that!
and as far as giveaways, , ummmm
so everyday I drive to work and Sleepys gives away a mattress to the 100th caller,
there not gonna lose the store cuz there giving away mattress that possibly no one was gonna buy anywhoo,, its called marketing ,,, promtions :)
and yes nike does it too.
maybe its something pox would consider.
an emailer , home page,,, that login page that nobody has time to take 2 sec to scribble in?
"Hey,, pox nora tounry fri sat nites. prizes etc!" promotion? thats all no biggie,,, I never even said its the best option.
BUT, if u think whatever happens with this situation will or will not be the deciding factor in pox,, please .

So much human nature in this thread.

Imagine a old man without relatives on the outskirts of a small village, this old man has saved all his life, taking only want he needed to keep his chin up, he been saving to get a surplus in the case it might be needed. He has been saving fire wood to keep warm in winter, saving fùr to make clothes, saving loggs for making a warm place to stay. He has a substantial amount of goods.

On his last days he starts to think about what to do with it:

1: Give it to the village`s residents so they can get to use it.
    or
2: Burn it because noone deserves them.

And before someone post: "Pox isn`t a old man, this is a videogame man". Or "Oh so that what we are doing today, fairytales?" Or "Shhhh nub it is decondors runes and he does what he want" and everything in between.

All i wanna point out to you is that my imaginary story has the same fundamentals as this thread, and humans, how ever intelligent we may be, are sometimes extremly dumb creatures. Counter-productive and illogical. Just for the firk of it.

Merry Christmas to all, remember to give something to others if you are in a position to do so, no shame in sharing wealth.

    - It's funny how the same story is interpreted differently....

Wikipedia - "The Ant and the Grasshopper
, alternatively titled The Grasshopper and the Ant (or Ants), is one of Aesop's Fables, numbered 373 in the Perry Index.[1] The fable describes how a hungry grasshopper begs for food from an ant when winter comes and is refused. The situation sums up moral lessons about the virtues of hard work and planning for the future.[2]"

    - A lot of "grasshoppers" around lately. I do like your view Varthas... seems convenient, make bad choices and don't take advice or work hard and hope someone who did bails you out...and if they dont... call them greedy bastards. Hate this generation

    - Yeah ok, I hate scavengers, vultures and entitled bottom feeders. The kind of person waiting around for relatives to die... to divvy up their Bane Shift. Funny part is my comment was for someone else but clearly it hit home... keep having the time of your life grasshopper. Someone will bail you out at the end.... I just don't have to be happy about it

The grasshopper and the ant it is about choices and sacrifices.

I think this generation coming up now seem to have a different attitude with them. Both regarding sharing nature, and wealth. Wich is a small sign of what decondor is talking about, transition from a life in scarcity to a life of abdundance, it is possible in theory but not likely, just as this thread confirms.

The greed is from the past generations and tons of it. Majority of the goods are in the hands of the few already. The question is can this generation pay the bills from the past ones?
