Thoughts on Russia and their invasion of the province of Crimea in Ukraine and what you think should and will most likely happen to them for a violation of international law
So… for this kind of topic First - I would post a few link to a news article for discussion Secondly - I would be very careful with the wording, that is such a heavily loaded, biased, and potentially offensive wording that this doesn't offer any discussion whatsoever. Finally - You could at least attempt to have a discussion by trying to presenting a point counter-point, as it is, all this post feels like is flame bait and hate.
Is Russia really going back commie? They might go batshit if they team up with Venezuela, North Korea and China. I don't know about Cuba, the few people that are left in there are dreaming to get out, mostly; Here in Brazil we got in around 4000 Cuban doctors to work in the poorer areas of the country, and most of them just used this as an excuse to get out of Cuba so they could then move to the US or Europe.
I didn't know you were Brazilian o_o. Now that I think about it, I don't normally think about where people come from XD still XD
Would be cool if we had little Nora globes with our countries' flags in them. Of course, this would be an optional feature.
Russia and China are not on the best of terms, and relations with North Korea is even more far fetched. Communism or even socialism in Russia is more or less dead. Too many of the people with power are also the ones with money and financially it would cause a lot of problems. My degree is in International Relations, and I can't say what will happen, but their is the possibility, though unlikely, NATO could send in Security Forces if Russia continues to take more territory. Also, there will probably be mention of a two stat solution. Given how the overthrow occurred and the Pro Russia citizens in the East it could fall into civil war.
this could bring tensions to western power..hmm...if it goes on, who knows, probably world war 3 () and if that happens, really, risk of nuclear holocaust and global annihilation...then you get Fallout games
I think its unlikely that NATO will take military action without American leadership. I don't think the current administration has the will, and Russia knows it.
sry if i sounded like a scum earlier, I am just so optimistic that the war is less likely to happen in real life. "All of them, every single one of them are prepared to go to the hilt in order to isolate Russia with respect to this invasion," he said. "They're prepared to put sanctions in place, they're prepared to isolate Russia economically." -i forgot, maybe NYTimes. IMO, don't know why, I just have a hunch that the news are exaggerating the situation to (1) gather more viewers, (2) manipulate global CPO prices (surged up high), as Russia is EU's oil supplier (amounting to 1/4th of EU total oil supply as of 2014), and one of the world's biggest oil exporter. As bold as he sounds, Putin is smart enough to know that even if they get Ukraine, they'd be bankrupt. In an age of globalism n scarce resources, an economically-isolated country is dead before u know it. Not to mention, if they do get Ukraine, they'll be indirectly acquiring Chevron n other big-name-Gas-companies' Oil Reserves. That's basically asking for a war against other countries. A handicap match isn't gnn help Russia considering they'd be economically isolated. This is just a bully (Putin) trying to get lunch money from a skinny geek (Ukraine). While its teachers (US, EU, etc) are saying "you'll get expelled if u dare touch him". So the bully would, at most, intimidate the geek till he gets what he wants.
Don't judge. Unfortunately, more people die for less daily and we have already gone from a me-first to a me-only society. It's hard to be empathetic after years of media desensitization. http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/03/03/us-ukraine-crisis-russia-china-idUSBREA220GE20140303 http://www.nytimes.com/2014/03/02/w...ines-leaders-face-battle-for-credibility.html http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-...on-to-ukraine-bonds-as-gas-price-reduced.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurasian_Union http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Budapest_Memorandum_on_Security_Assurances http://www.nytimes.com/2014/03/03/world/europe/pressure-rising-as-obama-works-to-rein-in-russia.html Meanwhile, China has sided with Russia publicly. This whole "invasion" is justified considering the Euromaidan was a coup d'etat against a legally elected corrupt government. "Invasion" is quoted because that is what the West is calling what Russia considers "protecting" their assets in a majority Russian ethnic Crimea. Russia has a casus belli for ownership of Crimea since the collapse of the USSR when it was granted to Ukraine. The underlying culprit can be traced to Viktor Yanukovych's deal for $15b and reduced gas imports from Russia. While the Ukrainian public preferred a pro-West stance, Yanukovych's actions were pro-Russia. Protests began which spiraled into the Euromaidan. A pro-Russia Ukraine will strengthen and influence other countries to join the Eurasian Union which has been criticized as a new USSR. A pro-West Ukraine does the opposite and may spill unrest into other countries. The strategic importance of Ukraine is undeniable as a buffer to NATO countries for Russia. At this time Ukraine has asked for US, UK, and Russian assistance citing the Budapest Memorandum reminding Russia of their agreement. Please correct me or add on if possible, thank you. Personal thoughts, gas prices will be affected in all of EU with the current situation. The West is looking for a diplomatic solution as Putin employs the madman theory. (Merkel told Obama Putin was out of touch with reality "In another world.". In addition the whole 48 hour ultimatum then denial adds to the unpredictability.) If the West cannot allow Putin to save "face", then we can expect a proxy-war. P.S. I agree with the Euromaidan.
either borders mean something or they don't. and if they don't, then its simply take whatever you can hold. that's world war talk.
Venezuela is at the brink of a civil war, is not? For what I remember, things are pretty much 50/50 for pro and against the current government, and the protests have escalated into riots with the police killing people and everything. Certainly, I would not consider them a reliable ally in any sense.
