I wanted to share this contribution of mine on the "Build and expansion together" thread, where we throw ideas to the devs, and maybe some of them are picked and implemented, after being reviewed by pros. I want to encourage you all to contribute on this thread, so we get a community driven expansion where we can expect things we like the most, in contrast to a few of guys vision of the tundra, specially non ST guys. That thing is poorly designed if you ask me. Nobody is going to pick Snowbreach or Spellsurge over Trail: Snow on a unit that comes with Domain: Snow on base. Nobody is going to pick Weighty over Lethargic. So you have your upgrade paths cut out for you already. The base is very bland. It's your common beater with a range option ability. Avalanche is a bit on the icky side when it comes to range options. The rest is just a 2x2 beater with a movement hindering ability stuck to it. Because 2x2 units aren't punished enough when it comes to getting around, I guess. It doesn't seem playable unless it comes with some negative nora modifier. Improvements? - Just make it a Yeti. What's the point of inventing more stupid sub-species? We have a Yeti-hound and that's already lamebrained* enough by itself. It doesn't need a buddy. - I'd consider dropping Domain: Snow from base or exchanging Trail: Snow in U1 for something else. Otherwise Trail is probably going to be the obvious choice. - If you need a -NoraCost ability in U2 make it something that doesn't hinder its movement capabilities. It's a fatty after all. With that it's punished enough as it is. *The R-word is being censored! T_T
@Hiyashi Thank you, good points specially those in upgrades. About Yeti, no way man, you are killing it. I changed it. What do you think of it? Keep in mind the desired pattern is Avalanche on base with a negative ability to compensate it's cost, and pretty snow driven upgrades. I guess I have to reply since I was tagged here. But I'll be honest with you. I'm not exactly what you'd call a "rune evaluating specialist". As a disclaimer, straight forward upgrade paths aren't even that bad. I just though I'd point out that they are a bit bland because most people like all kinds of random stuff for their upgrades. Meanwhile I'd prefer static champions without the upgrade nonsense but that's another story. Your now chosen upgrade paths are pretty straight forward too. I am pretty sure that Spellsurge is not going to be a thing anytime soon. And if you already have Orb of Frostfall in your U2 that makes the Spellsurge: Snowstorm upgrade a bit less effective too. So most people probably would pick Domain: Snow in U1 and likely OoF:1 in U2. It seems more runable than the previous draft to me. Main reason is that it isn't movement-challenged anymore. I guess it's main problem now is that it is coming with Avalanche which just isn't so hot right now...
Cool art, boring rune If its a strig, I want it to fit into a strig theme. Strigs are in need of champions anyways, and he just does not fit at all. From his appearance, I would imagine him as more of a road block than anything else. Here are some abilities that I think would fit him: Hold the Line (Defensive strike ignores ponderous) Readiness (I mean, hes defensive and fat no?) Hibernate (Idk, probably a bad idea) Protective (Only if you put it on an upgrade line) Crushing Blow (Hes holding a mace no? Probably the 1 that I think fits him the most) But I still dont like how he doesnt fly.
@Hiyashi Hum good comments. I understand spellsurge snowstorm and avalanche aren't hot at all. I'm mainly pushing some mechanics I like rather than looking for an interesting rune for everyone, and that's a big flaw you just made me spot. @EnigmaXIII You are right, it doesn't fit much into Strigs, it's too much snow driven and it's race is wasted. I will change that. About the abilities, I also though about Hibernate as an aesthetic choice, but I don't like much the ability so I left it behind. Hold the Line and Readiness would make him too much of a tank, I wanted to avoid it. I didn't thought about Protective, sound like a nice way of matching into strig without forcing it. About Crushing Blow I believe most people would complain about it into ST, since we have too many negative conditions that affect SPD. I moved Domain: Snow to base, removed Avalanche from base and stripped UP1 to add Strig synergy mostly. Can you come up with something more interesting? I will try to figure out something tomorrow.
I would like to see different champs get force barrier, gales, hidden arctic, grant frost auras back on. I think ST should have a new ability for champs called slide it forces a champ to move in a random direction while it occupies snow or ice. Different mechanic so it works against unstoppable champs. I think the Strig and Lonx should synergy each other. The Strig came about to help out the lonx according to POX lore. Both races are in need of help. Some upgrading or synergy upgrades would be nice. Do not worry about negative conditions cos Majestic and reduce speed is our Frozen MO lol
