Edit: because I'm talentless and don't really understand the collective... with dual races e.g A+B is deployed and gets the buff if I deploy a B+C race it gets the buff too?
If i then deploy A+C there is no buff right?

 

exactly as you said, it need s to have at least 1 race not shared by any one unit on the field.

 

what are the rules on things like graveyard? if i run that can i no longer run a champion who only has race skeleton/undead

 

can play grave, the rule applies only to champs deployed from hand. remember that if you already have a summoned skel if you deploy one it will not get bonus from collective

Does this rule mean you essentially can't run a single race rune because it means you can't run a X/that race rune too?

 

You can. For example you won't see many boghopper/x. Otherwise you are correct.

 

you cant run an elf/beast and an elf. but you can run an elf, a beast, a spirit/elemental etc... basically yes, playing a monorace A stops all A/X champs.
