December 11, 2015 Four blocks of Hollywood Blvd. -- from Highland Ave. to La Brea Ave. -- were already closed to traffic Thursday night at 11 p.m. "This is definitely bigger than the Oscars," one production manager told THR Friday. The Oscars, held at the end of February, close down one block on Hollywood Blvd., from Highland Ave. to Orange Dr. Disney and Lucasfilm have not officially told guests which theaters will be used in Hollywood for the premiere. The blocks of Hollywood Blvd. that are closed include three: The Dolby (where the Oscars are held), El Capitan Theater and the TCL Chinese Theater. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/star-wars-premiere-street-closures-848194
correct me if im wrong. but havent the last 4 star wars movies been horse Bane Shift. why are people even excited for this.
The last 3 were sketchy. I am not really sure why all the craziness. But JJ Abrams at the helm makes me cautiously optimistic.
You will BURN. for putting the phantom menace and the awkward romance scenes up with the good movies.
I don't think the new ones are as bad as people say. I'm not saying they are great or anything, and oviously they aren't as good as the originals, but compared to a lot of the crap people lap up these days - hunger games, ironman, transformers, jurasic park 27 etc - they look like masterpieces.
Jedi church says new Star Wars film leading to boom in followers December 14, 2015 Leading figures in the Church of Jediism, the religion inspired by the fictional warriors who battle against the Dark Side, have told The Daily Telegraph that the group is signing up more than a thousand new members a day, as excitement builds ahead of tomorrow’s launch of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Now the organisation, described by its members as “a set of philosophies based on focusing, learning and becoming one with the Force”, claims to have more than 250,000 followers. Patrick Day-Childs, a member of the church’s five-strong UK ruling council, said that more than a thousand people a day are signing up for the religion. He said: “It’s gone up substantially in the past couple of days. The real test will be in a couple of weeks when the film hype has died off. “ Daniel Jones, who founded the religion and who goes by the Jedi name Morda Hehol, said: “We’ve been rushed off our feet. People want to know more about it. It’s great for us.” Following the church involves learning about the principles of Jediism, which include tenets such as: “There is no emotion; there is peace,” and “There is no ignorance; there is knowledge.” Mr Day-Childs said: “I think people are shying away from traditional religion because it doesn’t reflect their views. We’ve got no problem with homosexuality or anything like that. We are very accepting.” http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/cel...r-Wars-film-leading-to-boom-in-followers.html
Ultimate force: Star Wars fans camp – and get married – in Hollywood premiere queue December 12, 2015 Adding to the sense of a (very big) event are the camping fans. The dedicated group – who have called their efforts “the line awakens” – currently has more than 130 people participating, with more likely to join in the coming days. The ordeal was planned by liningup.net, a motley group of Star Wars fanatics who staged previously successful lines for the franchise’s prequels at the same venue. Campers will be granted one of the many tickets reserved by the small outfit for the first general release showing of The Force Awakens, after spending at least 24 hours in the line. Money raised goes to Starlight Children’s Foundation, reportedly one of the first charities that Mark Hamill contributed to when Star Wars made him a household name. There’s even an elaborate franchise-themed wedding. Australian Caroline Ritter, who works in the mining industry, is among the flock of diehard campers. She has been outside the cavernous cinema in the heart of Hollywood since 5 December, well ahead of the film’s first screening there on Thursday. Ritter flew in with her fiance, Andrew Porters, to join the line. Just before The Force Awakens is screened, Ritter will marry Porters outside the historic theatre in a ceremony orchestrated by the venue itself. For her big day, Ritter says she will don a classic white dress, with “handmade crystal x-wing starfighters on it”. “We just wanted to do something unique and fun, and engage the fans,” said the president of Grauman’s, Alwyn Hight Kushner, who said that Ritter would be escorted down the aisle by Darth Vader himself. Officiating at the ceremony will be a friend of the couple who goes by the name of “Obi” Sean. http://www.theguardian.com/film/2015/dec/13/star-wars-force-awakens-fever-grips-los-angeles People are crazy, funny, wild, creative.
December 15, 2015 Glenn Whipp said: 'Quite simply: This is the STAR WARS movie you're looking for.' After the showing, audiences spilled out into an after-party held inside a giant tent erected on Hollywood Boulevard, where they snapped photos with Stormtroopers, lined up to build their own droid toys and noshed on salmon and short ribs. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ce-Awakens-reactions-say-s-best-New-Hope.html 'Star Wars,' and the companies that will make billions December 15, 2015 Every division of Disney will see a boost from a blockbuster film. The company is working on "Star Wars Land" for its Disneyland and Florida parks; the cable division's Disney XD channel has a "Star Wars Rebels" show airing new episodes now, renewed for a third season; and perhaps most importantly there's an incredible range of consumer products on a scale exceeding the "Frozen"-mania of a few years ago. "What's different about 'Star Wars' is that it's not just traditional toy consumers, it's not just mom and dad, or a young boy buying into the category," said Piper Jaffray toy industry analyst Stephanie Wissink, who called this a once-in-a-decade consumer product event. "This is ultimately a collector, plus a parent that's buying for nostalgic value, plus a parent buying for their children seeing the films for the first time." Wissink projects $2 billion-plus worth of toys will be sold in the first year, a number which will only grow as the sequels roll out. In fact, She expects consumer products to ultimately trump box-office revenue. "We think this is going to be really the start of multiple years of the Walt Disney Company bringing content to the marketplace that has tremendous translatability into products," she said. http://www.cnbc.com/2015/12/15/star-wars-and-the-companies-who-will-make-billions.html
