    Tortun Ancestor
An ancient, fentek-like mirefolk in a seashell (http://kingdomrushtd.wikia.com/wiki/Blacksurge)
    Rarity: Exotic
    Faction: Forglar Swamp
    Race: Mirefolk, Tortun
    Stats:
    • DMG 11
    • SPD 5
    • RNG 4-6 OR 1-3
    • DEF 2
    • HP 50
    Attack: magical
    Semi-aquatic
    High Tide
    Turtle
    Ponderous
    Upgrades:
Abyssal origins: friendly tortuns (alternatively, any champion with amphibious) within 5 spaces gain semi-aquatic, AP 3 CD 5. (thanks only for the tweak)
    Tortun's trade
    Mirefolk Fealty OR Regal Presence
    Weaken spells

This rune is intended to make FS water based support more appealing to tortuns, as his split nature allows them to play easily with the more appealing (in my opinion) KF support instead of the more focused FS one. As now, there is no reason to run monsoon over nature's wrath for example.
Giving tortun semi-aquatic is very good from a gameplay perspective, because this gives them a much needed speed bonus, but not in a way that may cause problems in the early game and requires terrain support to work.
The alternative upgrade path gives mirefolk access to the otherwise hard to obtain mirefolk fealty (Ctharia's ability) and gives additional spell protection to the mirefolk battlegroups, that are kind of vulnerable to AoE damage spam when his on deploy effects momentum is gone and they have to stall to make a slipwater powerturn. This, and this champion's water generation make him a option on the mirefolk champion lineup, making him a more desirable rune than the other tortuns that are ussually left only to exclusively tortun battlegroups

I say friendly champs period that way you give people the option to split w the swamp now and add abyssal origins to base change dmg to 8 and add domain water as upgrade :):D

Thanks for your feedback, but I think that giving anything semi-aquatic would get out of hand quickly.

Pretty cool idea! I've run a hefty amount of Mirefolk in the past (Ctharia included). As far as being split with Mirefolk, I couldn't care much at all for more ranged units. Most of their range units have a key point which pushes through for the theme (Dazzling/Rover:High Tide, Global Cleanse, High Range Damage) and I think putting another one into it would not be to the greatest advantage. I am a huge fan of Range: 1-3 units, and Cecaelia doesn't seem to make the cut for me most of the time. As far as that goes, Water Front (High Tide I'm assuming) on such a unit would support your melee units much better and you would not have to worry about Rover on the Songmaster.

Now, this may sound like a little too much but, being the biased here, I would rather Mirefolk Fealty be changed for Regal Presence. It sounds reasonable to me, seeing that your current set up would force the choice primarily between Abyssal Origins, Regal Presence (now Mirefolk Fealty), and Weaken Spells. The unit is then either used for full out buffs (Abyssal Origins and Regal Presence) or can be used as a relatively balanced unit (Origins/Presence and Weaken Spells).

    Like I said, just a thought. :D

I really like your ideas! I tink they would be a great alternative.
I didn't thought about the high tide distribution, but I see how a 1-3 unit would provide the frontline with water while the favoreds do the same for the ranged champions, they would fit perfectly.

I saw this on someones elses pic for their avatar but I feel like this would fit perfectly in this scenario. I love the idea btw.

    Bump with post revamp design:
    DMG 12
    SPD 5
    RNG 1-3
    DEF 3
    HP 50

    Abilities:

    Attack: Magical
    Semi Aquatic
    Turtle
    Ponderous
    Hight tide
    ^Abyssal origins*
    ^Tortun's trade
    ^Mirefolk Fealty
    ^Weaken spells

*Abyssal origins: At the beginning of your turns, friendly tortuns within 5 spaces gain semi-aquatic for 3 turns.

I'd kind of like to see it be FS/FW. It wouldn't be super abusable in FW, since it only works with amphibious, and it doesn't inhibit it in FF FS.

Besides that, there's Torton Bokor, who's awkwardly FW, and some of the mirefolk are FW as well. It seems like a fitting place.

I would actually support that. Making more viable options for a FS/FW split would be dandy to me! I love combining those 2 factions and have no reason why because I hardly ever run either in Full-Faction.

Either way I like the rune Gabriel! I would run it ;)

For a man who has started playing tortuns, I would actually prefer to see more FS/IS tortuns in the future. Out of all the splits I made I usually use my IS/FS tortuns mainly because: Great spd boost from shrine, great spells, great equips (Tac manual on Mortars are 22 dmg hits) I could see some cool ideas for maybe Paladin tortuns or even Tortun Construct?

I proposed at some time, minelayer to class engineer and relocate relic as an ability option (for forge hammer), inventor is already engineer, he could get recycle or craft replacing one of the useless upgrades, to make use of armory + horn combo.
Also, I'd like to see wildeye bracer as a split equip that removes ponderous and does some other things.
more on my tortun revamp proposition (signature)
