There is a somewhat related music thread over there: The music thread I listen to all kinds of music though I prefer rock and metal. My current favorite bands are: Die Ärzte Farin Urlaub Racing Team Iron Maiden Megadeth Billy Idol I also like long walks on beaches and stuff.
If I have to choose a couple of bands: The Strokes NOFX Simon & Garfunkel Just to cover 50 years of different music.
Well, to list my favourites: Mogwai Iron Maiden Dire Straits Korpiklaani Eluveitie Manu Chao (Bob/Damian) Marley I also listen to heaps upon heaps of weird stuff people tell me I shouldn't like, like: Serj Tankian Daler Mehndi Owl City Allison Krauss (For Americans that isn't weird, for an European moderately so)
I like the Symphonic Metal: Epica Nightwish Sirenia Luca Turilli's Rhapsody Leaves' Eyes Delain And a little bit of TSFH In my experience, if it's normal for Americans to like a piece of music then you should back away slowly.
Top 3 bands for me are Swans, Andrew Jackson Jihad and Sunny Day Real Estate. That's as many favourites I can think of for ordering purposes. I have too much music.
In no particular order, and much broader categories than what some of you use: Hard Rock - Tool, Metallica, Megadeath, AC/DC, Korn, Godsmack Heavy Metal - Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Iced Earth, Wolf, Nightwish, Metal Church, Dethklok (I know it's from a cartoon), etc Country - Vince Gill, Alabama, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Allison Krauss, etc Country & Western - Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Horton, Conway Twitty, etc Classic Rock - since Led Zepplin and Aerosmith fall in this category now. Mainstream Punk - Offspring, Greenday, MxPx.
I live in germany. Been here forever, but I still don't feel german enough to reply with a "yes" to that question.
Boozah, Allison Krauss has the most beautiful voice I've heard in mainstream music. I can understand liking her even if you don't like the genre of music.

Maybe it's because he would like to pronounce it "Oiropiian" instead of "Juropiian". The english language is a bitch when it comes to graphem-phonem correspondence. That's why dyslexics of languages with high graphem-phonem correspondence (i.e. most scandinavian languages) tend to read very slowly (but they read!), whereas dyslexics from english speaking areas are simply fucked.
