a bunch of my family are librarians, and for a while now what they've been saying is that they're seeing more use of their respective libraries as meeting places or community centers, places where people can come to focus. also that increasingly more of their job is in answering questions for people, or in pointing them towards the relevant information- regardless of what medium that information is conveyed through more "knowledge custodians" than pure librarians
