In the past I've done collat with anything I want back, even with friends and guildmates. This way if either of us leave the game, forget to give them back, or trades them away, there's less hard feelings. (More recently I've let people "borrow" things but those weren't things I needed back.)

 

For anything I have a lot of (aside from things I'm collecting), I just forge them away.

 

I had 30 Moga Hooligans. But I gave them away.
