As I am the first to post here, I think my prize should be a dedicated Plant/Treefolk unit with a detect function... Please?
What kind of tree would have detect? The tallest tree in the forest? Or one that has long roots, spreading it's influence across large distances? I would like to see the ability Take Root used as a trigger for other things. Having a really tall tree that gains Detection when rooted seems cool to me.
This kind of tree would have detect... He would also guide K'thun around (by removing Wandering while in play)
I was initially against the idea of detect on trees and then i met this fellow, i now second the notion to approve this man into the fold.
I don't think every theme needs everything (detect, shatter, whatever). Hell, I even think it'd be boring if every theme had access to everything. Imps, for example, don't have a solid tank or detection making you have to go out of theme if you want those tools, and I'd say it's very fitting!
Detect is pretty mandatory, the others you can live without, but without detect of pseudo detect you will be at sever disadvantage many times.
I'm sorry, I don't understand this ^ But, in response to being at a disadvantage because of a lack of in-theme detection; Out of theme runes aren't too bad. Of course, this is just my personal opinion. I couldn't care less (ignoring potential boredom) whether or not a theme gets all the "mandatory" utilities as long as the mechanic it revolves around functions well enough to have it be relatively competitive.
*or, if you have some sources of global damage, like skeezick have, or pings, or bloodtracker champions, you can do well without detection.
