Greetings Everyone, Thanks to Vyrnell's recent VoA Short Story Competition and the interest it brought, we are reviving the Midterm Short Story contest. For this story contest, players who want to participate can submit as many short stories as they want. Short stories submitted to this contest can not exceed 500 words and can not conflict with any current Pox Nora Lore. The short story should build upon what happened in the Visions of Amareth Expansion. Players will have from now until 10AM PST December 21st to submit their entries on the Submissions: Visions of Amareth Midterm Short Story Contest forum thread. Contestants can continue to edit their submitted entries any time before the December 21st 10AM PST (1PM EST, 6 PM UTC) deadline. At the end of the submission period all entries will be put up for a forum vote until January 4th, 2016. The top 3 short stories submitted by different people with the most votes will then be read by the Desert Owl Staff and some distinguished community members to determine the winner. As a note, the short stories can not involve Serkan or Roa due to other story related content coming, and each short story must have a title. Rewards The winner will receive one of every Midterm rune from Visions of Amareth and their story will become official Pox Nora cannon including being put up on PoxNora.com. Both of the runners up will receive one pack from the Visions of Amareth Midterm. Guidelines: Short stories must be between 200-500 words in length. Short stories need to be written in a similar fashion to the existing story content on PoxNora.com. Short Stories can not conflict with existing Pox Nora lore. Short Stories must have a title. Shout Stories must build upon the Story established for Visions of Amareth. Short Stories for this contest must be posted on the Submissions: Visions of Amareth Midterm Short Story Contest forum thread before the December 21st deadline. Short Stories can not address anything regarding Serkan except for the fact he is gone. Short Stories can not reference Roa. Short Stories must be written in English. For this contest, the short stories can draw upon the official Visions of Amareth story on PoxNora.com, the runes and associated flavor text from the expansion, and the attached additional plot points. Submissions that were submitted for Vyrnell’s contest can be resubmitted here but must follow all the guidelines for this contest. Additional Plot Points Delim orchestrates the assassination of Mena during the confusion of the Nefari Resurrection's incursions, but it's prevented at the last minute by Amareth appearing to Mena in spirit form to warn him of the attempt FS/SL sign a trade treaty revoking any existing letters of marque between the two and preventing the issuance of new ones, but unsanctioned piracy continues Protectionist factions in FS are displeased with the treaty, citing that the trade hurts local business and workers due to cheap labor and goods coming in from SL IS begins the Falgar project, a defensive wall on their borders, linking the outskirting villages. This involves heavy use of constructs and strip mining practices for resources along the border with KF and SL.
