This seems really neat, the concept of Robot wars but magnified seems pretty interesting. Will be very disappointed if it's not presented by Craig Charles

With this happening, and Battlebots having returned, I'm in robot-fightin' heaven.

Where's the option for the robots to override their controllers and start the robo-apocalypse?

It's only the greatest show that ever existed. Basically, teams from around the country/world build robots designed to fight each other (within certain guidelines for size, weight, etc), and they face off in a tournament. The battle arena itself has various hazards like saws in the floor that pop up, hammers that come smacking down, and so on.
It was around, like, 15 years ago, but just recently got a science channel reboot.

I initially thought that said "hamsters".

Not sure whether that would make the fight better or worse.

Also, I'm gonna put my money on Japan, for two reasons.

    1. Japan has a richer history of trying to get fighting robots to work. They've had more experience designing such things. See: every mecha anime ever.

    2. Two-legged robot designs have always seem like they would have issues with balance. For example, the way those treads are made, if Japan's robot simply grabs America's and pulls down hard enough the thing will tip over.

Would make it worse for all the viewers who are hamsters in real life.

there is only 12 months, the poster is wrong.

I think Japan will win because theirs is red, so it will go faster.

    Well it happened:

Honestly the video has crappy editting and bad script overall but i hope both companies get a lot of funding so this becomes a real thing

That was... so bad. They tried so hard to make it seem cool but it was just sad.

Also, the Japanese robot was actually kind of cool and I could see it being actually useful as a robot. The American one was basically an engine attached to some metal. "Giant Robot Duel" was actually "Robot vs Metal Box with Chainsaw attached to it"

That was so much lamer than I was expecting, and I had my expectations pretty low.

Oh well, at least Battlebots doesn't suck.

I think because of the pace of how the video is editted there were no pilots on the robots when they got hit by the canons or fists. If the video did not have that bad edit it would have been ok even if staged.

Well.. people "running for their life" or the metal bar used to deflect paintballs..
I can tell the sparks from the lights were pirotecnic, not electrical so they even fuked that up. They could have used sparks where the robots took a punch or with the chainsaw to make it look more dramatic
