    Because they are taking something that is really good and remaking it, which will usually mean it wouldn't be as good as the really good original thing since most things aren't really good?

    It doesn't matter that it is American. A Dutch remake of Terminator 2 probably wouldn't be as good as the original either.

    Though, I don't know why more people can't just watch the original with subtitles.

    Idk a dutch version of Transformers with windmills that turn into helicopters would be pretty badass.

    Land of Mine looks interesting. I might watch. however, every time i sit down to watch a ww2 film, it always ends being one of those " hitler is evil, NSDAP germany sucks, poor poor jews, for freedom!" films. I've had my fill of those. Is this 1 different? If it is, i'll give it a shot.

    American versions aren't always worse.
    The Longest Yard (2005) was more entertaining than Mean Machine (2001)
    British Death at A Funeral (2007) was better than the American Death at a Funeral (2010)
    American The Departed (2006) was better than the Chinese Internal Affairs (2002)

    maybe i have a bad taste in films.

    nazis and hitler are not mentioned in this one as it's literally about german (child) soldier prisoners of war being forced to do the dangerous task of clearing mines in a formerly german occupied country wich (as you might immagine) is a bit of a hostile work enviroment.

    I'd say dramatic movies seen from the perspective of german or occupied countries are more interesting because they tend to be less whitewashed nationalistic. while there are exceptions ( Fury had some good bits where the american tank crew (except newbie and leader as moral high ground)was being deeply broken and downright evil at times)

    I'd recommend Unsere Mütter, unsere Väter/Generation war;

    and I haven't watched this one but it looks interesting;

    hell I'm rewatching gen war/ unsere muter&vater right now.

    hehe, "I bet a leutenant like you has a big lighter."

    translation is a bit weird at the start they translate un mensenleben as a human life instead of a lifetime ago , then make it that at the end. and "they can pick us off from 1000 meters away" becomes "from a mile away" and at the end when whilhelm shouts "Artillery anforden" ( call in artillery) they put the subtitles "Artillery ,hold fire"

    I remember it being made more clear who is stealing morphine, I mean it's sort of obvious but I think it came as a shock to oblivious charly maybe in part 2 ( edit; I must have misremembered)

    omg I forgot about
