salamans

    I really think salamanders should have a racial bonus or something like that.

    Anybody has any ideas?

    ex:when there 3 or more salaman stealthed on the field,the salaman with the higest atck gains a rank of asasinate

    There was a thread on the olld forums about it, most people wanted to see the would be racial related to equipments.
    One of the first ideas that came out was
    Salaman technology: For each Salaman you control equipments and relics cost 2 nora less. (Boozha)
    I'd personally add constructs to that, because there are some nice synergies with salamans and IS.
    I would like to add a bunch of relic and equip based abilities to many salamans and have a simple racial like this one, the amount of synergies outside spells can be surprising

    Baskitkase and alpha were working on another version that made equipment indestructible and the user a construct also.

    what about revisiting them all by removing Immunity: Fire, but not giving them a racial at all?

    Imo, salaman racial have to do something with: equips, fire, poison, adaptation
    ...I'm not sure. but flavor-wise that's what Salamans do right.

    (1) They're immune to fire, and some can breathe fire. (by Greek lore: Salamanders)

    (2) Some do so for poison, but please don't make a racial Poison bonus, BotU shuts it down.

    (3) In Pox lore, they have an affinity and cultural friendliness to whacky inventions, and equipments, thus being one of the factions that shares similarities with IS (mag pulse, quip boons, etc)

    (4) Salamanders are by nature, adaptive, some can camouflage etc2. Such a shame that Goblin Thievery is already given to Goblins. my initial proposal for Salaman Racial was the EXACT same thing as Goblin Thievery (someone shouted OP at my idea, and lookie where Goblins are in the Meta...)

    MY IDEA:
    Salaman Provision (When a friendly Salaman champion is within 3 spaces of this unit, this unit gains Pilfer. If it does, Pilfer's AP cost is reduced by 2. For each equipped Salaman within 6 spaces, this unit gains a rank of Damage Shield: Fire, and Damage: Shield Poison)

    Salaman Something(For each friendly equipped Salaman champion within 6 spaces of this unit, it gains Stealth, Adaptation, Restraining Aura, and Provision)

    Salaman racial overhaul: focused on equips and relics and encouraging certain specific splits.
    Salaman racial would be the proposed by boozha with a slight modification including constructs on the discount

    Salaman technology: For each Salaman you control construct champions, equipments and relics cost 2 nora less to deploy.

    I will take salamans as squishy champions that rely on skills to survive and try to avoid, in most cases, direct confrontation.
    Champions would be modified to better fullfil his roles and to encourage certain battlegroups, with salamans being either the main race or a module, abilities focused on equips and relics will be introduced to several salamans in order to make some battlegroups appealing. Those battlegroups are:
    FF FS salamans, Using TLC's, HoO's, darkmarsh helm, soulsphere and pool of dreams.

    FS/UD salamans, focusing on rogue synergy, and some equip and relic interactions, including blade of the snake, cloak of long knives, and a reworked temple of brutality

    FS/IS Salaman constructs: taking advantage of armory and the discount price of construct tanks, also, some bane blast synergy with comandos and daredevil, some tortuns will be added to this synergy aswell.

    And some particular splits that some salamans may fit after the rework.

    Particular champion reworks coming later.

    I really like playing salaman and think that the new racial ( should there be one) focus around the salamans innovations and technological developments.
    Another idea I gave on the old forums was something the salaman theme could use champ wise : Salaman Hulk ( big meat shield for when direct confrontation cannot be avoided) - the flavor being he is the result of genetic testing of a muscle enhancement drug. The art work being something like a more heavily muscled salaman with some container attached to the body ( back being the most obvious) with tubes running from the container to different muscle groups ( like Bane from Batman: Arkham Origins).
    Just a thought to help further develop the salaman theme.

    The salaman race in poxnora is all about technology and adapting to their environment. What if their racial had to do with them being able to absorb an equip and gain a random equip ability for a set number of turns. Much like how the ability bestow grants one random ability to the nearest champion upon death. If it was a negative equip they would get negative effect, and if the equip only had one ability then they would get that one ability. I would like this to be the racial because forglar swamp has a spell called loot that allows you to steal an opponents equip. I think this racial is much simpler than what was suggested by Alpha. What do you guys think?

    Maybe something as ez as a racial based:

    Salaman Daredevil
    Salaman Tech: Skystorm Spear (This champion comes into play equipped with Skystorm Spear. This champion permanently gains Provision. Whenever there is a friendly Salaman champion within 5 spaces, this unit gains Pilfer).

    Salaman Dervish
    Salaman Tech: Emergency Kit (This champion comes into play equipped with Emergency Kit. This champion permanently gains Provision. Whenever there is a friendly Salaman champion within 5 spaces, this unit gains Pilfer).

    There should be a total overhaul to Salamans in terms of their Stats, their Costs, when this ability is applied. A discount should be given to most, because with this Salaman Tech ability, it means they are susceptible to Magnetize/Loot etc. Or worst.... Pilfered Armory.

    Without their equipments, basically these Salamans have -1SPD.

    However, the good thing is, they can be ultra competitive.
    Racial Provision means +1SPD = +1SPD means you can -1 SPD on base 7SPD Salamans = 6SPD Salamans are cheaper than 7SPD Salamans

    This means, with such a racial all 7SPD Salamans can get a discounted Nora tag price while still pseudo-retaining 7SPD.

    Furthermore, they can also be cheaper because they lose their innate abilities: Daredevil loses Lightning Skewer, Trapper loses Detection, while some do not. When they are ultra-dependent on their equips as such, you can give even further discounts because if their eq is taken, they're worthless.

    A problem with salamans is they are slow compared to boghoppers with leap 3, semiaquatic gives a bonus speed, and even murkwaters have multiattack.

    Most of them are melee with 6-7 spd, dodge/block, evasive are fairly rare and there aren't enough to make a strong versatile bg. I splashed some salamans in my bg with mixed success.

    There needs to be more, and either speed, meat, damage (some more ranged options would be good too), or utility needs to be incorporated to make it serious. I feel there is a lack of offensive equipment and the nora costs aren't quite right.

    I really like the concept but it just doesn't pan out well. The adaptive idea is cool, but perhaps merge salaman/murkwater (both are reptilian) for some co-existing bonus or even ally: murkwater in addition to the proposed racial to possibly recycle some very rarely used runes.

    I hope the equipment has synergy with the salamans but are also useful on other races.

    So you would like a racial that did something like "for each 3 salaman champions equipped with an equipment each friendly salaman gets a rank of multiattack".
